I guess their incident on February 4th wasn't considered a fight, since Carkner got the only penalty in the altercation. I was using Carkner's fight card for this year listed on DYG.

I think Milan Lucic has entered the top 10 this year, maybe at the 10 spot.

That's because he doesn't throw a punch until 45 seconds in...

And that was your biggest mistake.

Why not use the more trustworthy and accurate fight card from here?

All due respect to McGrattan, but a 6 fight sample doesn't cut it for me to be seriously considered.
Although it pains me to say this, I may have to agree with Whaler Fan.

I'm not a huge "top ten" ranking person, but a 6 fight champ is hard to agree with (although I do think he is the best fighter left)

Too bad he's 6'1 215, didn't dominate, and can't possibly win the belt. Also, not being a liability is irrelevant here.

I've noticed no Deryk Engelland in a lot of peoples top 10 which is fine but i would argue he is better then the likes of Reaves, Boll, and Bollig. I know Reaves won there one fight this season however it was a short crappy fight and if they would of went longer the results probably would of been different. Engelland's other loss was to Scott who has a massive size advantage and is a top fighter in todays league. Bollig in the top 10 when his biggest win was against Reaves and he couldn't beat Rupp who is not in most peoples top 10. Rupp should also get some consideration for top 10 since he does have wins over noteable HWs in Boulton (preseason), Janssen, and Thornton. Sure he lost to Parros and Shelley but there is no shame in losing to either one of the veteran HWs. His losses to Thorburn is alittle ugly but Thorburn did have a decent season and and there 2nd fight was a crap fight anyways. Also there is no way Boll should be in the top 10 he has a 6-7-6 record with no wins over any top 15 HWs and losses to likes of Mayers, Bollig, and Desbiens.

Funny, people had no problem crowning Boogaard the champ with single digit fight totals. Same with those who voted for MacIntyre.

It's hard to rack up a lot of fights when you're in a guy like McGrattan's position, not playing every night and even when you do theres only a handful of guys in the league ballsy/stupid enough to take you on. McGrattan is the best fighter in the league right now, but Thornton probably had the best season. So if you want top make a top 10 for the year its probably fair to put Thornton at the top but if you're making a top 10 of "who are the top 10 fighters in the league" it should be McG

Unfortunately it just feels too weird making a top 10 list this year. Which is too bad because I usually like going through the clips and figuring out my 10.

In my mind though McGrattan is #1 when he plays, besides him the Bruins run the league as far as toughness goes, whether it's Thornton, Lucic, or Chara, take your pick, they are probably the most feared guys in the league this year especially all being on the same team.

Exactly, how can you argue with 5-0-1, his only non-win [a draw] coming from a rematch with Parros. McGrattan's competition this year looked about as solid as Boogaard in 09-10 or MacIntyre the year after, and they had 9 and 7 fights those years, respectively. I'd give him the #1 spot. From this season on, any time any team throws us a bone and picks up a certified nuclear warhead [even if they only get 30 games] we should take it and run with it. Heavyweights will probably be gone within a couple years, and even if they're not, they'll be extremely rare and occasional and only in backwater markets [Nashville's actually a good market, and probably the best I can see a heavyweight being in in the future].
