McGrattan has always been one of the top guys for a number of years since he entered the NHL in 2005-2006.. The list of names he has wins over is a who's who of some of the best fighters of his era.. Eric Cairns, Mike Sgroi, Wade Belak, Tie Domi, Eric Godard, Todd Fedoruk, Donald Brashear, Colton Orr, John Erskine, Martin Grenier, Jody Shelley, Steve MacIntyre .ect.. Last year Gratts was bac playing in the AHL were he beat a lot of good up and coming talent before being called back this season and his continued his fine run of results.. I have Gratts record this season..

Kevin Westgarth - TKO Win.
Cam Janssen - Edge Gratts in a fight of the year candidate.
George Parros - Win.
Jay Rosehill - Clear win in a fight of the year candidate.
Jared Boll - Clear win.
George Parros - Narrow loss but the lino's were in far to quick and the fight was just really starting to get interesting.

Hopefully see Gratts taking on some more big name enforcers before the season ends. I would like to see him fight MacIntyre again, Big John Scott, Shelley, Carkner. ect before the season is over..

2. John Scott -- Has not lost a fight in the NHL yet.. He's gave some top 10 guys, and fringe top 10 guys some serious beatings, while also destroying some good Light-heavyweights and middles.. He's a big guy who knows how to fight which is always dangerous. He has beaten clearly in previous years George Parros, David Koci x 2, Joel Rechlicz, Cam Janssen x2, Kevin Westgarth.. This year he has 2 easy wins. 1 against a top 10 guy from last season and a win over a good middleweight.

Sheldon Brookbank - Clear win
Deryk Engelland - Clear win

Scott is a very good fighter but his card lacks the big names on it that fight fans like to see. But apart from Gratts looking at who Chicago have left to play I can't see many touching Scott this season..

3.George Parros -- Big George normally just about scraps on my top 10 list's in the last few years but like ive mentioned above due to the lack of heavyweights in the NHL Parros moves right up my list.. George is a big tough man who's a ok fighter on his day and has took some wins over the likes of Colton Orr, Scott Parker, Jody Shelley, David Koci, Eric Godard, Darcy Hordichuk. And this season I gave him the Edge in the 2nd Gratts fight.. So far this year I have Parros as 4 wins and 1 loss..

Mike Rupp - Clear win
Brian McGrattan - Loss
Andre Deveaux - Edge Win
Brian McGrattan - Edging it when the lino's jumped in.
Mark Stuart - Edge win

Parros is for me a inconstant fighter when fighting the top guys and normally will loss more than he wins. But he also normally puts on a close enough fights and is a heavyweight who fights regularly which is always good to see.

4.Shawn Thornton

5.Darcy Hordichuk

6.Deryk Engelland

7.John Erskine

8.Jay Rosehill

9.Jared Boll

10.Ryan Reaves

Guys like Matt Carkner, Colton Orr, Trevor Gillies, D.J King, Steve MacIntyre, Raitis Ivanans, Matt Kassian, Jody Shelley, Kevin Westgarth. ect I'd love to put up but none have been active enough or not fought since pre-season or are stuck in the AHL..

Others I was close to putting on my list were Milan Lucic, Ryan Clowe, Mike Rupp, Cam Jannsen, Arron Asham.. Shows how lightweight the NHL is at the minute compared to previous years.
Not a bad listing at all. Pretty tough to come up with a top 10 list so far, but your ranking is pretty senisble. Like Throwdown wrotw, I might replace someone in the lower 5 with Barch, but nice job regardless.

Janssen is not a top 10 fighter in my opinion. He's got 1 win this season against a MW. His style is not effective and he loses way too many fights, with losses to Rupp and Barch who are both lower tier HW's. Did not fair well against Gillies in there pre seasson fights. Cam is also coming off probably the worst season of his career fight wise losing a lot of fights last season.

I like Cam Janssen and I wouldn't argue with him cracking the Top10 just based on his activity alone. Unfortunatley, this is all we have to go on these days seeing as most of the actual Top10 guys aren't active at all. Cam just fighting in general has legs up on most fighters in the league.

Forget his win/loss record, his arguement is much like Darcy Hordichuk's. He might not win alot of fights, but for the most part they're above average fights and more entertaining than others.

Look at George Parros. He hasn't had the most impressive record during his NHL days, but he's always one of the most active fighters in the league. Outside of an upset here and there (Orr), he's been pretty average and not really cracking the Top10 the past couple seasons. But now? Sure! At least he's in the league, and fighting on a regular basis.

This is what the Top10 is this year. Forget who's the best (McGrattan BTW), but more so who's still in the NHL and fighting period!

This thread should just be locked. There is no legitimate top 10 anymore. I'll give the nod to McGrattan as top dog, but after him that is about it, and the only reason he is tops right now is because nobody else is even close.

Matt Kassian 2 fights last night move him to 4th on my list... Three fights with Darcy Hordichuk this season, two wins and a draw. He also beat Zenon Konopka... His AHL record is also very good. Wins over Kelsey Wilson, Kyle Neuber, Eric Selleck, Triston Grant, and drew two with the very tough Raitis Ivanans and Eric Godard... This guy is the real deal, and easy top ten fighter if he gets enough call up's this season..

Ryp was great. So exciting and so much skill. RIP.

On another note, anytime a HW comes up from the AHL for one reason it is great for HWs around the league. John Scott started to run around a little lately which will help out the cause as well. Hope Kass can stay up.

I'd swap Thornton and Boller, but otherwise great list!

Brian McGrattan is clear #1 right now, and if MacIntyre survives until March 22nd we'll see him and McGrattan fight again.

I really wanna see Scott, McGrattan, and Kassian fight each other. Gratts is clear #1 but because these HW's dont play often its tough to determine a list and get out comes from fistacuffs.

If Kassian stays up, I could McGrattan going with him, but as for Scott, I don't think he wants any part of the super heavys.

EDIT: Frazer McLaren could definitely be a top 10 heavy one day.

If he keeps improving and he would need to as his results the last few seasons have been average at best..... At 6'5'' 240lbs I'd expect him to dominate guys who are not heavyweights, but he does not..

I've seen him look real good in a few fights then in others he's looked very average heavyweight.. Last year he did not do much at all, his best results being a clear win over Tarnasky, and edging Parros in a fight... He lost to Boll, S.Brookbank, Boulerice, McGrattan, J.Johnson..

Even in this watered down heavyweight division I don't think Frazer makes it at the minute.. I rate his team mate in the AHL Brandon Mashinter more highly..
