Sabres enforcer John Scott when asked what he'll do if Shawn Thornton comes calling: "Then I'll fight him. I'm not scared of him or anyone."

Claude Julien referred to Bruins/Sabres bad blood as "speculation", but putting MacDermid in lineup clear indicator they expect alley fight

I love how everyone's saying Lucic has to fight Scott for hitting Miller.. and how everyone's calling him out if he doesn't..Wasn't that settled when Gaustad fought Lucic???. Howabout Scott fights his entire team mates after they all did nothing in response...If the hit was so bad why didn't anyone do something about it right after it happened??? Were they afaid they'd get beat up??? At least i could look at myself in the mirror for at least sticking up for my teammate..

This is a totally different squad, on paper, than last year. When Stafford drops the mitts with Hartnell, that tells me that there is a different mentality in the locker room. The sh1t with Miller and Looch was "taken care of" last year. Pretty much everyone is going to have to be willing to go (except Vanek, Pommer, Gerbe, Ennis)

I will not be eating crow, rather I will de downing Guinness.

The last game I remeber that was as hyped as this one was tie domi vs bob probert 2. Right at the start of the game. Wonder who lines up for the opening faceoff tonight. Milan lucic might handle john scott. Before shawn thornton even gets a chance to intervene.

IF this gets wild tonight:

Lucic-Foligno, Thornton-Scott, Weber-Ference, Ott-Campbell, Scott-Chara

First off... who is "everyone"? ONE Columbus fan? I haven't seen any Sabres fans say anything of the sort.

I expect one fight. Scott versus Thornton or MacDermid (who is waaaay overrated IMO). That's it.

Mindy Puff has already made it clear that it's a dead issue and 2 points is what he is concerned with.

BOSTON -- It's been nearly 15 months but Milan Lucic-Ryan Miller was still on the media's minds today in TD Garden in advance of tonight's Sabres-Bruins game. Boston reporters swarmed new Sabres Steve Ott and John Scott in the locker room after the team's 40-minute pregame skate and peppered Lindy Ruff with questions about the Sabres' new approach.

Was adding Ott and Scott a reaction to Lucic? "It was just overall team toughness, make us a grittier team," said a clearly agitated Ruff. "It had nothing to do with the Bruins."

"You try to win the puck battles and the territorial battles. We have to win a game. Not coming out of here with points is not being successful. In a short season we need points. We've answered the physcial challenge. We've been there for each other from day one in this. We play a gritty style, a hitting style. We have to win games."

Good approach. The Sabres are last in the Northeast Division, 11th in the Eastern Conference and on an 0-3-1 skid. Winning the game is a tad more important

"We dealt with [Lucic] last year," Ruff said. "We had a game where Paul Gaustad fought Lucic and [Robyn] Regehr fought [Zdeno] Chara. We played a couple great games against them and came away with points. Hockey is about winning the game, winning the mental battle, winning the physical battle. It's about winning the territorial battles."

There will likely be some battles of the other kind tonight. The Bruins are scratching Chris Bourque and 6-3, 205-pound Lane MacDermid is in for his first game of the year. He had 73 penalty minutes in 32 games with Providence of the AHL during the lockout.

Scott said he'll be ready for MacDermid, Shawn Thornton, Lucic or anyone else who comes calling.

"Boston is physical and we try to be the most physical team on the ice," Scott said. "Steve and I were brought in for that, to try to play a role."

"Team toughness is [from] within," Ott said. "You don't have to go out there and drop the gloves every five minutes to prove how tough you are. I think the toughness comes from the locker room, every guy in here having each other's back."

Lucic and Miller didn't speak to the media today. Bruins coach Claude Julien wasn't getting drawn into the whole kerfuffle.

"That's their choice to build a team they want," Julien said of the Sabres. "As far as I'm concerned, speculations [about fights] are speculations. We've played our style of game forever and we don't plan on changing that."

Asked directly if there's still carryover from last year, Julien said: "You'll have to ask them that question. You're asking the wrong coach."

As for the roster, Ruff said Patrick Kaleta will be "out a while" with his neck injury suffered Tuesday. T.J. Brennan is going back to being a healthy scratch and Alexander Sulzer returns to the lineup after sitting out Tuesday.

More than half of this game will be spent on special teams with the over/under on minor penalties at 20. John Scott will be ejected as soon as he steps foot on the ice. In fact he may be arrested when attempting to enter the arena for having thoughts about punching another person in the face. No fights in the game.

Jeebus I hope not!

Lucic would maul Foligno.

Should have brought up Tarnasky. Not great but better than any of those guys except Scott.

When is McCormicks finger going to be healed up? He could have grown a new one in that time.

I fully expect the Bruins to bully the Sabres again tonight.

Haha! What the hell is taking so long!?

I expect the B's to definitely be roughing up guys like Pommer, Vanek (if he ever goes near a crowd), Ennis. Marchand will be all over Gerbe.

I guess posting about the Bruins and Lucic in a thread about Miller's revenge against Lucic and the Bruins makes me obsessed?

Maybe it's just I'm exposing the certain element of clowns here known as Bruins fans that make excuse after excuse after excuse on why Lucic wont have to fight Scott, even thou Scott was pretty much signed to counter the Bruins.

Something every Bruins fan was gloating about in other threads lol.

Looking forward to a great game and ALL the excuses...Lol.
My god you are insufferable. I love throughout all of this you act as if your the victim, as Pesa has pointed out your opinion has varied...or YOU have misconstrued it to everyone else...that's not our fault.

Then of course you play the Bitter Bruin Bigrade card just like the other fraud fanbase that uses it as a crutch....a match made in heaven. Nobody "attacked" you Mrs. Melodramatic, you were looking for an argument from the beginning of this thread...it's consistent with how you are with Bruins fans.

But...go ahead use the BBB excuse as your crutch, remember we're attacking you.

Looking forward to some more unoriginal commentary from you, I guess all that time riding a certain fanbase's coattails has served you well in deflecting blame and playing the role of victim.

Remember to use your teaching from riding coattails in previous threads. You were attacked!

One of the last games Boston played in Buffalo last season, the B's got blown out of the building. Out hit, and outplayed in every facet. It was the game Lucic accepted a challenge from Kaleta. I'm thinking tonight's game will be extra physical, Claude probably has the 4th line out for opening faceoff. I still think the Lucic hit on Miller was addressed last season. I'm hoping Looch takes some runs at Miller and the smaller Buffalo players. Bring on Scott!

Is it just me or is this the longest day ever? I haven't been this excited for a game since the Savard/Cooke incident (that one let me down quite a bit)
