parros turned himself into almost a regular shift player. had career highs in +/-, goals, assists, points and ice time. great season for george!!! thats why he just got rewarded with a nice multi year deal worth 2.65 mil. he was a +8 this year, not bad for an enforcer.... he never just kills guys in fights but he never gets pummled much either. but he gets the job done. Randy Carlyle says he creates a stress free working environment for the skilled players. i love that quote...

What's the deal, no Cote or Boogaard as a choice?

That's because Cote belongs in the "definately disappointing" category instead of the "more disappointing" slot.

Please, can we have at least one "..best fighter..." thread without it turning into a pro/con Cote arguement?

BGL is your answer. He had beyond a disappointing year. But his fights are crap anyway, so who really cares that he wasn't more active. Actually, thank you Georges! Watching those vids would be a waste of time.

Both had disappointing seasons so I guess it comes down to man to man and Laraque would win so that's it

Parros had the worst year of the 2. Bad showing for Parros overall.

BGL though...he is what everyone SHOULD expect of him. A goal scorer doesn't fight you know.

(and George, Milan asks that you stop shadowing him now. It is getting kind of creepy).

He had 10 fights in 33 games. Lets do this math!

33 x 2 = 66 = 20 fights

He could of have close to 20+ this year if he wasn't injured. I realize most of you just say "Laraque is the supposed champ, he beat up my tough guy, my tough guy backed down from him cos hes a good player blah blah blah".. okay.. but please don't forget Laraque was on the road for hte most active season he's ever had.
Very true. I'm a Habs fan and not even really a Laraque fan but I was not at all dissapointed by Laraque this year. He may have disappointed others but I was only disappointed by how many games he missed due to injury. If he plays 80 games he gets 24 figths at the pace he was on. Not a lack of activity at all. All season long I watched guys turn him down. I know people on here say he should just grab guys and beat them up but good luck getting in the lineup if he starts putting his team down for 5 or 7 minutes to please the guys on hockeyfights. I actually was pretty happy with how he played in the playoffs as well. Not so much on the first line but in general. I hope he is fully healthy at the start of the next season so he can be a force on the ice again.

To me, it was a crap fight where barely anything landed. Fritz did a great job holding off the champ, but I don't see how you could call even a season with one loss at the most a diappointment, at least moreso than George Parros.
funny, cause every bgl fight is a crap fight but somehow he gets the win... why not fritz in his fight? once again WRONG!!!

It doesn't work that way man. You have to look at what teams he was playing, who was in the line ups.
You can't just say if he played 66 games he would have faught 20 times.

Parros, great Enforcer and does his job... But, he had one entertaining bout vs Shelley and that was in preseason. He lost to a few guys that are questionable and slept down on the entertainment quality this year.
BGL did not put enough work in this year for judgement...

I think Laraque easily had a worse year than Parros.

Parros did his job all year long. He doesn't win every fight but he always shows up and does the enforcer's job, unlike laraque who didn't do anything all year except nurse his groin and chase Lucic around during games against Boston. Big deal, Lucic still owned the Habs so I guess Laraque didn't do his job when it mattered most.

For a guy with his salary, he was a terrible disappointment. Give me Parros and about 20 other guys over Laraque any day.

As others have said also, Laraque fighting is like watching paint dry. Sure, he wins but it's boring and you have the "nice guy" factor. I am just waiting for him to help a guy to his feet and pat his rear end after a fight.
