You don't half to be 6'4 230 lbs to be a HW especially in today's NHL. Jared Boll is a HW his fight card speaks for itself. Boll's fight card is pretty much equal to Thornton's this season. I would probably consider guys like Barch, Jackman and Thorburn are HWs too, just they are lower tier HWs.

He's had more fights this year because he has more willing partners. This is because he's not that great a fighter. And as for "He fights mostly heavyweights".... Parros Yes Thornton Yes Janssen Yes, though a hell of a lot smaller Biznasty yes Boulton yes Jackman ...if he is, he's even worse than Rupp Kopecky no Thorburn no Thorburn no, again Lane MacDermind nah Bollig we'll see Also interesting to not he's fought no-one 15 pounds or closer to him in weight. The closest is Parros at 228, and he got his ass kicked by a guy about 20 pounds lighter.

Krys Barch before Matt Kassian? Shawn Thornton after Matt Kassian? There are two Krys Barchs in the NHL? Both Krys Barchs before Eric Boulton? Darcy Hordichuk before Eric Boulton? No Chris Neil? No Milan Lucic? No John Erskine? No Deryk Engelland? No Ryan Reaves? No Cam Janssen? |

Mike Rupp is a better fighter then Krys Barch in my opinion. I don't think Barch is top 10 and Rupp would probably rank 7-10 on my top 10 based on this season so far.

He has definitely improved since his days with the devils,I remember when it looked like he was going to shit himself the two times he had to fight Ivanans. But is still nothing special, I just think it shows how sad the state of hockey is in terms of actual fighters.
