My own opinion.......it's really easy to be in top 10 HW

why? there aren't that many HWs....I'm curious how many are there?

If you want to discuss about top HWs.....talk about top 5 instead of top 10.

There's several guys with better fight cards to put in front of him. Jared Boll, Jody Shelley, and Krys Barch are all HW's. In fact, they fight more HW's than Rupp. He's #11 or 12 imo.

To say Boll's not a HW is just plain crazy. The guy fights everyone, he's not that good at it but he's always willing.

You don't half to be 6'4 230 lbs to be a HW especially in today's NHL. Jared Boll is a HW his fight card speaks for itself. Boll's fight card is pretty much equal to Thornton's this season. I would probably consider guys like Barch, Jackman and Thorburn are HWs too, just they are lower tier HWs.

But you can't say the same for Rupp, despite his size. That's why some class him as a MW or a LHW. Yeah he's 6'5, 246, just because he's tall and fat doesn't automatically make him a HW. Is Pavel Kubina a HW...? Rupp is almost more of a LHW, but this year he's a HW by default. He's still not top-10 material though.

Actually he's more willing than most HW's this year. He has 12 fights. Only a handful of heavyweights have more fights than that. He is a heavyweight. He fights mostly heavyweights.

He's had more fights this year because he has more willing partners. This is because he's not that great a fighter.

And as for "He fights mostly heavyweights"....

Parros Yes
Thornton Yes
Janssen Yes, though a hell of a lot smaller
Biznasty yes
Boulton yes

Jackman ...if he is, he's even worse than Rupp
Kopecky no
Thorburn no
Thorburn no, again
Lane MacDermind nah
Bollig we'll see

Also interesting to not he's fought no-one 15 pounds or closer to him in weight. The closest is Parros at 228, and he got his ass kicked by a guy about 20 pounds lighter.

See my point? Some of them didn't really fight this year that much and some ppl won't consider 2 or 3 of them as a HW. That's why to me for this new NHL, HW and LHW should be in the same category. That way it'll be tough to make it to top 10. Also you out Scott on #5? How? He fought only 5 times and none of them against those top 13 you listed. That's my point.

Most people in this thread have considered Thorburn a low tier HW. Also your top 10 list is terrible.

Mike Rupp is a better fighter then Krys Barch in my opinion. I don't think Barch is top 10 and Rupp would probably rank 7-10 on my top 10 based on this season so far.

He has definitely improved since his days with the devils,I remember when it looked like he was going to shit himself the two times he had to fight Ivanans. But is still nothing special, I just think it shows how sad the state of hockey is in terms of actual fighters.
