Laraque : the end ?

Last year and this year seem to be very difricult for Big Georges

Lot of injury , only a few fights with lot a draws or very narrow wins (plus he even lost his fight vs Fritz )

Maybe this is the beginning of the end for Laraque

He's still one of the best in the league if not the best...

Injuries did hurt him last year obviously, but he was on pace to set his career high in fighting majors. He's still one of the best in the league.

It could definately be said he's living off past reputation, and not as good as he used to be. BUT, he's still top 5.

This guy is more boring than Andrew Peters and Chris Dingman combined.

I like Laraque, and he was the toughest in the league for a long time, but whether it be injuries or whatever, I think his time is done.

hard to say but at 33 years old he is still young enough. in saying that different fighters burn out at different rates so who knows for sure but heck Brash is 37 soon to be 38 still woopin a55

it is my hunch that he is just fine..... i don't think BGL has ever had to get mad to fight he has always been able to keep it all business....i would say if he keeps healthy this year he will be right up there again.... he is not my cup of tea from a fight style persepective but i haven't seen a diminishing of his talent really

he still tends to impose that spin cycle style on guys and take them down without incident far too often.....drives me crazy but he's still top 2 until someone steps up and does something about it....PLEASE ANYONE!!!

Yeah but Brash has kept his pace up for years, Laraque hasn't. Laraque has been dominant because he hasn't lost, yet, he hasn't been as active as Brash. Maybe not all his fault as things haven't swayed his way, but I believe he is about done...

you could be right his work rate dropped off a bit last year to 10 fights and he appears to do the minimum needed to fill the roll where as Brash that old scallywag still seems to have lots gas in the tank.....i think Brash has looked just fine so far this year dispite the biggest loss of his career in his last fight last year....the guy keeps earning a living for sure and he's not a spring chicken anymore

BGL is still fine when he drops them and we'll see if he picks it back up to about 13 to 15 fights this year (that would be an active year for him).....not sure how much ice time he gets in Montreal....maybe the habs fans can weigh in and tell us if his drop in work rate is due to him being in the press box most nights?

I know he has sat out the past few games, but to me, its like hes just putting in his time. Im a huge Habs fan, and Laraque fan, but, im not sure how much his heart is into it.

I woulda thought he woulda had at least a couple of more fights by now, or at least one more. If he's in tonight against the Pens, I certainly hope himself and Godard have a go. This should be automatic.

The only excuse I can give him, is, maybe some guys (teams) MTL have played, have not wanted to fight him. Highly unlikely, but, I suppose it could happen.

He's strong as an ox and at one time was deadly. These days his fights are few and far between and when they do happen they're boring. ALWAYS resorts to the takedown if he considers his opponent dangerous. It wouldn't bother me a bit if he retired. I don't consider him the champ anymore and haven't for a while.
