I have seen some many times that someone KO's Jim Cummins! Does Mr. Cummins never beat someone with KO? I like Cummins very much I think he is great ice warrior, always going with TOE TO TOE and then BANG! Cummins laying on the ice

Guys like Cummins and Odgers to me, are worth the price of admission. Rather than some giant, who hugs, but wins all his bouts. I'd rather watch Cummins scrap than Brashear or somebody like that anyday. |

Cummins has knocked down May as well.
Cummins has taken his share of lumps and big losses. But at the same time he has had some nice victories. I always look back to when he beat Paul Laus pretty easily years ago when he played for Tampa. |

Was he ever the Champ NO. But he had as much heart as anyone of his era and I wish that there were more players like him.

Jimmy loses a lot now but it's hard to name a more stand-up guy.Course it's hard to name a more knocked-down guy either.
Reminds me of another old-school guy, Dennis Bonvie. |

Cummins is in the top 5 of my favorite Blackhawk fighters. He was always willing to drop the gloves when he had to and did not back down from anyone. He took his share of beatings and did give quite a few as well. His battles with Chris Murray are legendary and are easily some of the best fights of the 90's. He had a number of great toe to toe fights and is a throw back to an era that is saddly gone. One of the saddest days I have had as a hawks fan was when they traded him to Phoenix with Keith Carney for Chad Kilger, now that was a horrible trade. I will always remember his brawls with: Zmolek, Murray, Kypreos, Janssens, Lipuma Marshall, and Berube among others. He was usually giving away 4-5 inches and 40 lbs but that did not scare him as his fights with Probert, Grimson, Twist, Peluso, Poeschek, Ray, Cote, Beukeboom, McAllister, Belanger, and Brashear will prove. Hockey will be a sad place without the likes of him and the few other remaining toughguys who love to fight and not grab and hold for dear life. He got dropped quite a few times but that did not discourage him at all.

I'll always remember the Cummins/Purinton fight as an example of what a warrior this guy is.
The shots he took in that fight were brutal. The guy gets knocked to his knees as he's firing away, gets back up only to eat some more hard rights that were landing flush.... He then proceeds to complete one of the best comebacks I've ever seen in a fight. Starts firing rights that connect and Purinton actually covers up and the linesman have to step in. If that fight continues, it could've gotten real bad for Purinton. When they showed Cummins's face after that fight he looked like he walked into a wall. I'd take guys like Cummins, Odgers, Buchberger, Stock, and Shelley on my team anyday.

Jim has certainly seen his fair share of stompings but he has given some of it back, not in the way that hes taken it. i think that jimmy is an alright fighter but i think he oversteps his bounds too many times. hes more of a 2nd or 3rd rate fighter. point and case in chicago with probie the 1st tier fighter.
