Yes. Webb has a decent list of opponents.... without a doubt a much better card than Tom K or Downie.

I know Webb was a fan favorite, and honestly - I liked his style. My point is just that his record is pretty Tom K'ish.

I agree the record is similar. If Webb had Tom K's card, I think it would be much different though.

Downie and Barny are different. Barny did that stuff because that was his job and did it with a smile.

Downie does it because thats his nature and he can not control his emotion. I think Downie is as good as a player as Barney. I don't know if I explained this good enough or not.

So what I'm getting out of all this is Downie is the "new" somebody that was something like someone who at some time played some what of a physical game. Someday it will be some what clearer who that someone will be that he is the "new" version of. Give it some time and we will know for sure.

I wonder who will be the new version of Downie someday?

What about:

Downie is Downie. Not a MW, but an agitator who plays his balls off and isn't afraid to take a beating along the way. He's clearly willing to step up against guys waaay out of his class if needs be, but he hardly ever gets the win. He sticks up for teammates more than himself it seems, and he does tend to have a hard time in controlling himself, but this year, in my opinion, he's been very disciplined, drawn countless penalties and has really been a consistent, good player. I also like the fact that since coming to Tampa, he ditched the visor and hasn't really had a real dirty play, unless you consider that ridiculous incident with the Admirals & the ref.

Downie is like a Steve Ott or Cal Clutterbuck. Agitating player who throws hits, gets in your face, and fights occasionally(although he's already got 4 this year). I think he's got more potential offensively than Ott or Clutterbuck. He's been playing on TBays top 2 lines and doesn't look outta place.
Kinda like a Burrows where if you're not a fan of his team, you hate him.
But not gonna put up numbers like Burrows.

I see him developing into a Darcy Tucker type player. IMO.

Downie is one new hated agitator for league or Bégin an Laperriere style liked player?, Better offensive player than Ott off course and drop the gloves more than Ruutu,Avery and others. If he don´t doing stupid thinks , he been potential near for Ian Laperriere. But now he is far for him. No way like Avery , please. Kostopoulos,Bégin and Laperriere are different category than Avery,Ott and others. Kostopuolos is one big hearted player ever seen and Laperriere leadership for lockerroom i like too and Bégin is liked player time he wear Canadiens jersey.

Thanks, that clears it all up for me. So just so I'm clear though, Downie is like Steve Ott or Cal Cluuerbuck but has more potential offensively then them making him not like them but more like Burrows but not like Burrows offensively which will make him most likely not like Burrows but he'll turn out more like Tucker?

How's this? Steve Downie is...Steve fukkin Downie. You get that? Clear enough for ya?
I was just making comparisons (i know, it's a big word....look it up if you're struggling) with other players in the league.
Anyways, good luck with that GED, and i see you're Canadian......Bettin Saskatchewan.
