I see your point and I agree but on the other hand for myself I always saw Webb as a class act, great teamplayer , great charakter who is great for every team etc and I am not sure about downie.
I could be wrong..

They're somewhat similiar, but Webb was a heavy and Downie is a middle at best. Webb was also a much better hitter. Not a bad comparison though.

Think Webb may have been the most ballsy player to ever play the game

don't get me wrong !!

I'm huge fan of Webb and for me it' a honor to be compared with Webb.
I'm pretty sure that the islander fan nerver forget him

This kind of players bring some kind of madness in the league.

They took lot of punches but never turtle

LMAO Webb was awesome, all he ever did was fight and hit, he was NOT a goon despite having the stats of one. (5g 13a, in 300+ career games played)

Steve Webb was my fukking hero in the 2002 playoffs when he was knocking the Leafs around like they were school girls.
I think Webb was a better fighter than Downie (he was a heavy, just not a very good one) and a better hitter, and Downie is alot better offensively but they were both hated players.
Wonder if Webb's still playing somewhere?

I loved Steve Webb, but he never manned up in that series. But next year, payback was a bitch.

I do like the improvements that Downie has made to his game. Hopefully he will keep his head together. Webb is worthy of his "mystique" but I don't really see the comparison between the two myself. Downie is more of a Kenny Linsman type IMO.

I think a better comparison is Webb and Tommy K.

Downie may be the new Barnaby?

Your right Jack, he is closer to a Barnaby than Linseman, though Matt may have been a better fighter.

Agreed. Barnaby was a better fighter ... but they are both smallish, emotional guys who (Downie lately anyway) fight up in class. That being said, Downie has a long way to go before he is equal to Barney. That guy never quit and took on basically all comers.

Webbs NHL fight record is very similar to that of Tom K. IMO. In his first season he was 0-18-2 and got TKO'd 4 times for cripes sake!

8-41-6 career?

'nuff said.

As him game developes at this level, you'll find that he's actually the new Darcy Tucker.

Don't worry. No one is comparing you with Webby (unless it's the poster we're talking about).
Haven't seen the Kordic fight before and I'm impressed as hell by Webb. He lost but not as much as he used to.

Webb also fought some big time heavies like Belanger, Low, Ray, Laus, Berbue. A card much tougher than Downie or Tom K.
