Colton Orr under Burke in T.O.
This is huge to have a top 5 fighter who is IMO the most exciting fighter in the league(there is always that fear that he can seriously hurt someone)in a huge market like Toronto playing under Burke where he will be utilised. Now I don't know much about Coltons personality, but how popular do you think this guy will get here and could he achieve Domi like status in 4 years time?

I think he can get over very well. He's a pretty charismatic guy on the ice, especially with the big grin after the fight ends. he sticks up for his teammates and is always willing to go with anyone. If he plays every game like in New York, he'll be loved. I'm not sure about ever surpassing Domi in 4 years time, as Tie was there forever, but he'll have a good run.

Not sure if the Rags fans ever chanted his name, but when he hears it in Toronto, just gonna make him wanna go more and more, as Belak said, there is nothing like it. Problem is, who's he gonna fight?
Ottawa - Neil? No. Montreal - Laraque? If he's not in the press box. Buffalo - Kaleta? No. Boston - Thornton, Lucic if he mans up. Jersey - Clarkson? No. NY - Brashear, if Torts plays him. NYI - ??? Philly - Cote, Carcillo, Lappy all at the same time :P Pitts - Rupp, been there done that, Godard if he stays. I dunno. |

Habs have always been midgets, nothing changed really. Koivu, Kovalev Tanguay, Komi gone, Gionta, Cammer, Gomez, Gill in. Wash. Is Leblond guaranteed a spot to stay up with the Devils? Or up and down like last year? I'm not sure of his contract. Same can be said of Recker. If it's one way, those are the guys obviously. All it takes is an episode of Brashear and Torts may not even dress him, ala Roy. That's up in the air. It would suck. Notice the question marks. Thanks though for your time. |

I will be interested to see if Orr's signing spurs an offer to Peters. Peters is 1-1-1 against Orr. Maybe this uncertain career future will convince Andrew he'd better shake whatever his problem is and get back to his form of a few years ago ....

I remember it was the preseason last year I think, Peters was about to beat the **** outta Hollweg before he bailed/slipped on his stick. Those games were good. What do you think happened to Peters anyways? |

They play six times, they'll fight at least once. Over the last couple of seasons Neil has fought Parros, Peters, Brashear, Godard, Hordi, and Thornton in terms of top guys. I don't think Orr is too far out of his league. Orr is the better fighter on most nights, without question, but it's not like Neil versus Orr won't happen. If they play six times it's more likely to go down than not.

I just don't think, even though I wish the exact opposite, that Orr will have as many FM's as I/some hope. |

In terms of him fighting Neil, Orr will be looking to make a splash in his first game or two with the Buds. And Neil should be looking to set the tone for Ottawa after their horrible season last year. Now, historically, Ottawa and Toronto play to open up the season (except last year when Ottawa opened in Europe) and if the first game of the season for both teams is an Ottawa/Toronto matchup, I wouldn't be surprised to see this fight go down early. And then again, maybe that's all wishful thinking. Either way, I'm stoked that Orr is in TO. Like I said, on the whole I think he'll have a fairly active year. He'll find competition, I'm sure. |

Good question.
IMO the loss to Brash in his last fight of 06-07 really got into his head. He hasn't been the same since. I'm just hoping that the prospect of being unemployed scared him back to old form (or just back on the juice

Orr challenged Neil numerous times last year only to be laughed at. Then Neil went and fought Staal one of the games. I could only hope Colton forces his hand this year. Some of these challenges even came after the game in which Orr jumped Ruutuu. Not that Orr landed much but you would think Neil would answer the call after a jumping.
You guys are getting a great enforcer on top of being a great fighter. Colton jumped Ruutuu and Artyukhin last year when they were running around and he is not affraid to be the aggressor, which he proved by going after Crosby. Glad I accepted that he would be gone once Torts got the job because it made these rough times a little easier to accept, but it still hurts pretty bad.
