I Find it funny to peruse this site where people defend fighting and explain all the technical/finer points of why hockey needs fighting not just as entertainment to the fans but for the wellbeing of th game....

Then they post in this thread not excited about how Orr may free up some space for the "skilled" players on the leafs, not how he might prevent serious injuries by being a big presense (sp) on the ice or that he may hold the other team accountable but how he might get into the fights they want to see.

Bunch of frauds. The only reason you care about fighting in hockey is becasue you want to see fights and thats ok..just admit.

I'm just hoping he makes it through the season with any serious concussions. After the few he's had, he's playing with fire right about now. Balls of steel to continue to fight. Most guys that have a few concussions seem to get Ko'd a little easier.

Defence was never Orrs specialty, and I can't imagine he lasts.

It's a shame, as he really has nothing to prove and in my opinion will go down as one on the top 5 enforcers of the (2005) post lock out generation.

Highly doubt he will be a healthy scratch at all this year. Carlyle loves him. In his post game presser Monday night he gave Orr a shout out and said that's how he wants his team to compete.

He's in. No one pays attention to that fan base, or shouldn't.

He did.The only thing that worries me is Engelland not being goaded into a fight with Orr because Engelland doesn't want to leave the team short one defenseman...I hope that's not the case...

Lots of legit heavyweights staying up in the show this season, so far (unlike last season). Last year, the one-armed heavyweight was king in the land of the middleweights. Scott made a name for himself among no-names.

Unlike Scott, Orr has been a battle-proven top heavyweight for many a season, but those concussions are cumulative and may have taken their toll. Ima wait until Orr gets through a few more scraps before I officially declare that he's back.

I think Orr is a much better fighter and Neil might have ducked him slightly but Niel is a tough customer and i wouldnt say afraid is the right word.
Neil ducking Orr is legendary, going back to his Rangers days and even more so obviously in Toronto. He shy'd away from Colt on a nightly basis, hiding behind linesmen after the whistle, avoiding Colt in scrums, goading Orr into dropping the mitts, you name it.

Neil went after the young and inexperienced Schenn a few times to further the entire ordeal until finally Orr had enough and MUGGED Neil.

Orr didn't give Neil an option, enough was enough as Colt made Neil finally fight him. And small margine isn't the right word. It was a decisive victory for Orr, pounding away on Neil at the end as Chris hanged on for dear life.

Scared is the exact word I was looking for. Mark it down, Neil won't fight Orr ever again.....unless of course Colt doesn't give him an option. again.

Here is the video evidence of this. A mugging and a decisive win for Orr.

I'm curious about this myself. I don't recall anyone saying John Scott was the HW champion of the NHL. Revisionist history at work.

Neil fought a better number 28 for the Leafs in Domi and has fought a ton of other tough guys during his career. He's not scared. He's part agitator, part enforcer. He'll fight on his own terms now, as he's starting to get up there in age a bit.
