As weak as it was, at least there was a response by Mayers and the Hawks. It wasn't that long ago we would be up in arm and keyboards in hand sharing our outrage and NO response at all.

Once you get past the accident Kane seemed to have in his pants about the fight giving him "chills", the general feeling was that Mayers took care of business on the ice, where it counts. It energized the club, according to some players.

I guess the proof is in the fact they scored 4 goals in the first, after the fight. Also, by having it happen sooner rather than later, it settled the game down. The refs, once the fight happened, seemed to call a pretty close game, wanting to take any further chippyness out of the game.

From my earlier post, I too, wanted to see that cheap shot artist get his ass handed to him. I still do. Hopefully, that might happen down the road. But as Active Stick said, at least the fight happened.

after watching the hawks dismantle the preds in a way i've never seen before and along with the start that they've had, this team is very impressive. considering having 10 of 12 on the road to start and to go 10-0-2 in those games is just down right sick.

that said, this team can still improve. the power play while better, still isn't there. bowman needs to go out and get a 2nd line center as well. bolland can do it, but he is so much more suited for the 3rd line center role. with the way kruger has played this season, he would be a decent trading piece along with a pick or prospect who needs a change of scenery (pick one of many in rockford) to jump start their possible nhl career as it seems it won't happen in chicago.

An outstanding performance by the entire Hawk team last night.

This club held the Preds to 3 shots on goal in the first period and 4 shots on goal in the second. In the third, the Preds put 10 shots on net, which Crawford turned away. It was team fore checking, back checking, and puck control that limited Nashville's shots.

Crawford did a great job in goal. To me it has always been harder for a goalie to stay sharp when he is not getting many shots on net, than when he is making more saves. His play in the third period was outstanding. As much as he earned the shutout, he was a recipient of a great defensive team effort.

You brought out a lot of good points chilly. However, at this point, I would be very reluctant to do anything that would upset the chemistry this team has. They are playing great team hockey. To a man they have bought into and contributed to the record so far.

I would not like to see anything interfere with what this team has going for it.

chemistry would still be good if one player is swapper for another especially when it can make two lines better.

bolland goes back to the 3rd which makes that stronger. whoever comes in on the 2nd can help produce more than bolland. plus even the 4th line can be stronger with whoever goes down from the 3rd line (my guess is shaw).

I don't disagree with the fact we need a second line center, but then again, we have been saying that for three years.

To me this wouldn't be tinkering with the club, but, a major change and you never can be sure how a team would respond.

Let's take your premise and all would be the same, I would like us to get that center.

The best thing about the last game is that it is over and we still got a point and not a loss. It had to seem strange for the boys to play at home for the first time in awhile and to me, it showed. They have had some good rest and a lot of the immediate distractions the team faced when it first returned are now over.

The game against the Sharks should be a good test for the team. The Sharks are better than average on the PP and the PK. They play tough and are leading in the Pacific.

Hopefully, we see a rematch with Shaw and Clune (a better fight?) or maybe someone else and Clune. More concerned about just winning this game.

My meds kicked in, thanks chilly. I saw Clowe and for some reason was thinking about Clune.

By the way, Desjardins was listed on IR earlier due to the flu, according to one source. Do you know if he will be in tonight?

As far as I know, mags, he's out. I have seen him reported as out in at least two places.

Not going to get to watch this one, but I hope we can keep the streak alive with a win.

Appreciate the information

I'll just have to root extra hard and cuss at the TV twice as much to make up for your not being able to see the game. I will think about you.

Let's keep it going.

Well, they got the two points, but, it certainly wasn't easy.

Am I the only one that stained their shorts watching a third period that found the team fighting two opponents, the Kings and themselves.

For as good as they played in the first period and a half, they couldn't catch a pass or control the puck in the third. Emery made some outstanding saves in late in the second, but during the third period, especially after the Kings made it 3-2.

Two points is two points and the streak is still alive.

Just wanted to check in, Fellas. Yep, still alive, just taking care of the family (Dad is pretty sick). Guys....what a start, huh!?!?!? Let's hope this will set the momentum for the remainder of the shortened season. Wouldn't mind seeing Bollig get more invites, but am sure we'll see/read more about him shortly. Again, sorry I've been out of the loop, but look forward to more "Hawky Talk." Take care, Boys.....
