As far as I know theres just been some twitter talks and things like that amongst rumor sites that the Red Wings are interested in him around trade deadline time. Haven't heard anything about someone wanting him right now or him being shopped.
Spacek comes to the Hurricanes and immediately gets 2 assists in his first game. Kaberle goes to Montreal and immediately gets 2 assists his first game. Even if Kaberle turns into the player he was in his Toronto days I'll never regret this trade. It was obvious that was never going to happen here and sometimes fits just aren't right. Spacek is the perfect scenario of last year in contract, older guy and a good locker room guy. If he plays well maybe he stays another year to bridge the gap and bring the young guys along. If hes terrible we can park him next week and start the youth movement and not feel bad. We've got 8 defensemen now when everyone gets healthy assuming Faulk is here to stay for the duration. Mcbain, Faulk, Allen, Gleason, Harrison, Pitkanen, Spacek, Joslin. McBains been hot of late maybe his value is higher right now than it ever will be, maybe hes just starting to devlop and we should keep him, hard to say. Allen and Gleason could both be gones for picks or role players. Pitkanen may be moved at the deadline. Maybe a package deal for a top 6 forward, we'll see but we definitely have a surplus. http://gocheckers.com/news/more/?article_id=698 3) Elliotte Friedman reported that Carolina feels they can trade both a forward and defenseman in the next few weeks. The most likely candidates for those trades are Tuomo Ruutu and Tomas Kaberle. The only problem is neither has played well enough to garner interest at the moment. It’s a sad state of affairs when you have to hope your players play well enough just so you can trade them. |

I'm glad to see fighting back from the Canes since it had all but disappeared the last year +. Seems as though Maurice may have been the road block there. Don't get me wrong we aren't intimidating anyone with our line up but the fighting has increased since Muller has taken over and I hope thats a sign of things to come. I expect as the season wears on and after the trade deadline / off season Muller will be allowed to shape the team more and more towards his style. We may lose what little bit of toughness we have so I just hope toughness will be added back after we rebuild. So far so good though, doesn't seem like Muller is opposed to the gloves being dropped.

Nice to finally see a display of heart and soul last night.
Timmy did well against a tougher opponent (I’ve said it before, but I think he plays best when he plays with an edge), sad to see nobody give Tim credit for trading blows with a clearly better opponent and not get killed (the same people didn’t miss the opportunity to rip him for the Horton incident). Apparently nobody watched the Brent/Vitale fight in slow motion because nobody is calling that fight a clear win for Brent when it was pretty obvious he was the clear winner (two clean uppercuts (18 and 24sec) and two flush rights (26 and 27sec) the second sent Vitale’s head bouncing off the glass, clearly overpowering for the take down and substantial leakage from Vitale’s nose). |
