Buffalo Sabres 2012-2013 Thread.

New Face for the Franchise?

Gone : Gaustad, Roy, Boyes possibly Hecht ( no contract ).

Added : John Scott, Steve Ott, Cody Hodgson, Al Sulzer, Adam Pardy..

Will this team be able to stand up for itself now and maybe win a few games in the process?

Well the last 24 hours has made the loss of Kassian a little easier to take. I didn't even bother paying attention to the free agent frenzy because I thought for sure Regier would sit on his hands or make this team even softer. I am a bit disappointed to lose Roy, but I still think they have enough offensive firepower. If anything, we've had too much skill and not enough toughness to protect it. This is more balanced. Only question now is will Ruff play Scott.

And to top it all off, Rick Jeanerette is going back to calling games full time. Things are looking up!

I agree 100%! I hope Kassian does well in his journeys. He wasnt really given a fair break IMO in Buffalo. He played less then half a season and was traded.

Very good question! With having Steve Ott around and ( more then likely ) Kaleta.. face it, we have 2 of the supposed ' rats ' that are going to be running around and hitting everything. McCormick cant handle everything on his own..

I looked at Scotts record/videos here and theres a lot of hype behind Scott. McCormick when he was with the Avs had a scrap with Scott and Cody did really well. The Voting went in favor of Scott by a large margin yet Scott didnt even seem to land anything solid the whole fight.

Scott didnt get much playing time with the Rags last year. 5 fights out of 60+ of the Rags scraps belonged to Scott.

Ive often felt that Scott had a lot of hype to him. I hope hes in the lineup and Im proven wrong.

The potential to have the mid-90's type of crash/bang line is there but will it be allowed by Ruff and Darcy?

Agreed again! The games werent the same without Rick announcing. He might be annoying to some but hes a mainstay and it seems odd without his voice behind things.

I can't wait for the season to begin. Buffalo is making moves to toughen up the team and that's much needed. You look at some of the top teams in the East and team toughness is a priority. I think that the Sabres brass has seen that and made the moves to compete.

Same here. I've seen all the soccer and baseball I need to see the rest of the year.

Still don't know about the new signings. Last time I checked, PIMs don't win games.
