2013 Buffalo Sabres

Well, there is hockey, finally! Not sure how many of you said you would not watch when they came back, but I sure am. I missed hockey! Especially since the Bills had another dismal season.

I look forward to seeing this team, albeit in a shortened season. We know how streaky Ruff's squads can get, so here's to hoping they get off to a good start and don't have time to get into a funk.

I think Foligno is going to be a solid player on this squad.

Go Sabres!

P.S. Can't wait to hear Jennearet and Rayzor call the games!

Yeah I didn't think about that! Hopefully Jennearet has a lot of goals and fights to call!
Sabres have a semi "tough" team now. No more getting run over.

And he's going to call every game. Not just home games and those nearby.

It is going to get fast and furious. All divisional and conference ames are going to get the bad blood boiling quickly!

Can't wait to see a schedule!

We have a log jam on D.

Does Regier move anyone?

Right now its: Myers, Leopold, Regher, Sekera, Pardy, Sulzer, Ehrhoff, and Weber, with Brennan lighting it up in Rochester.

If Brennan goes to camp, and does not make the squad, he would have to clear waivers, and I am certain someone would scoop him up real quick. I like TJ, and think he would be a good 5th or 6th defender. Leads the Amerks in scoring with 12 goals, 19 helpers. 6 goals are on the PP. I think he would help the PP tremendously.

Regher will be gone after this year. Hes not the nasty type of defenseman we really needed.

Weber and Ott are good friends and I think Weber could be a physical or mean-type of D-man.

The problem with the whole picture is all of our Dmen are 6foot, 200+pounds. None are really ' small '.

None of them are really physical or punishing.

Myers, Leopold and Ehrhoff are the top 3 and ' hands off ' IMO. TJ should be up next season so in actuality, theres a bunch that could be traded.

I think it would be safe to let TJ stay in the AHL this year and put him on the roster next season.

Pardy, Sulzer and Regher are all RFA's at the end of this season. Weber is a RFA. We need to resign Leopold.

Rumors are about that Hecht will be resigned. How True? Just rumors. I dont see room on the roster at all for him though.

Hecht got resigned, and Adam was not invited to camp. They must really think too highly of Luke.

djaye - I hear ya about Regher. My memory of him is being really hard to play against out West. Haven't seen too much of that here.

I am really starting to wonder how much Lindy expects people to change their style to fit his? We need some nastiness on the blueline. Somebody to stand up someone coming into the zone, and clear the crease. Bring back Rhett Warrener

Regher is another Craig Rivet in my book. Wouldn't be sad to see him go.

They didn't address the big hole at cenetr that everyone knew was there, so Chokin' Hacked is back. Yippe.

I hope I'm wrong, but IMO they signed Scott just as an insurance policy, and we won't be seeing a whole lot of him.

Sorry if this all comes off as bitter.... but I am.

Scott will be lucky to see 10 games this year.

Jack : I believe what they will do this year is just ' play ' and wait for the cap to drop. From looking at nhlnumbers.com , several teams will be looking to shed salary to get under the new caps. Acquiring a center wont be that hard with trades and moving some assetts.

We have a good talented bunch of people in Rochester but nothing at center. Its the weakest position in the whole organization and has been for 3 or 4 years.

True. The players seemed to be enjoying themselves and putting in a strong effort. Stafford and company "He was our 4th choice..." are thankful for Peters laidback coaching style.

I would expect anything different, Jack I understand your bitterness, i am sure we are both in the same boat in regards to Lindy. I am glad they are starting to slowly dismantle the core.

According to another Sabres board, the lines looked like this at practice:

Vanek - Hodgson - Pominville
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford
Ott - Grigorenko - Leino
Ellis - McCormick - Scott
Gerbe - Hecht - Kaleta

Brennan - Leopold
Ehrhoff - Sekera
Weber - Sulzer
Myers - Pardy
Regehr

I am sure these will change, but I like the looks of that first line. Nice to see Brennan up there. The line centered by Ennis was strong at the end of last year. Hope to see more of that!

If it stays like that Kaleta won't have anybody to rescue him, which is a good thing. Scott/McCormick (when healthy and cleared to fight) will be a great line to see.

Hockey is back. I'm back (for the first time in 2 years apparently). I couldn't be more excited. Just ordered Gamecenter Live, hopefully I won't have to miss a game. Go Sabres. That's all, for now.
