Playoffs, Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Round 1: Washington vs. Boston

Figured I'd start a thread on the first round series between Washington and Boston. A thread where we can discuss the series, make some predictions and talk about what goes down as the series progresses.

Any thoughts on this series, guys?

If there are any plans to start a similar series of threads by the mods, then please delete. thanks and happy easter, guys.

I was hoping the B's played Ottawa, a division opponent but whatever, Bruins take this series rather easily IMO. They are 1-2-1 against the Caps this season but that means nothing right now, the Bruins are kicking on all cylinders right now and Thomas' goaltending has been getting close to that of last year. I'll predict 4-1

Caps are finally healthy. It will be great to watch Ovechkin take on Chara for 6 games with the Caps coming to life this series. Caps 4-2.

I have a hunch that this one goes the distance. I have the Caps coming out and taking the first game in a shocking way, say 5-2 or something like that, riding their victory over the Rags and their recent success over the B's.

Then I have Thomas stealing game two while we see Ovi go cold, then in game 3 the forwards for Boston dominate the corners and absolutely abuse the caps porous defense, to put the series 2-1.

Fourth game, the Caps come out and win a game in OT as Semin and/or Ovi get a few foals from the point to win the game, even though the Caps get beat in several aspects of the game.

At 2-2 series tied, the Bruins are facing some heat from the media for allowing the Caps to make the series this even. At this point the B's win game 5 at home in a very unspectacular fashion, but they win nonetheless

The heat then gets turned up on the Caps, and facing elimination, the Caps grit guys, Brouwer, Hendricks, Laich, Chimera get some nice deflections and tip- ins past a sharp TT in net to even the series.

Going into game 7, it's anyone's game and is a toss-up.

Here's to a great series folks. Can't say that I wasn't expecting to play NY, but this should be an interesting series, especially since the teams have had some meets during the season.

Poll anyone?

I go back and forth on this one. Based strictly on their seasons, Washington looks like they're going to get ROCKED. But they have the potential to be amazing, and if they have Backstrom and Green healthy, they're going to be tough.

A great goalie is all you need to beat the Caps.

this one is tough to call because of the caps late push in the year. I still think the bruins will win in 6 though

This is going to be a good series. I think it will go 7 with Bruins taking it. Bruins offense vs. Washington goaltending- advantage Boston. Washington offense vs. Boston goaltending- advantage Washington, by a slim margin.

The Bruins need to keep their heads up after scoring a goal in this one.

The Bruins need to sign Ken Belanger and Byron Dafoe to the coaching staff to keep Hunter in check.

^^^^I just really wanted to post that clip.

I would rather play the Senators, but I still have the Bruins in 6.

I predict Bruins in 5. Series comes down to goaltending,Timmy has been his usual self again after struggling in Jan-Feb. Btw,i was at that B's-Caps game with the melee involving Dafoe and Kolzig. Forgot what a punk Hunter was. Baumgartner,Belanger,Pat Burns;bringsc back some memories. Thanks Whaler Fan for throwing that clip up. I bought a loge seat to that game for less than 50 bucks, three hours before game time. Crazy huh?

We have official series threads each year for these.

We'll keep the game day forum clean for specific games in each series.
