I think Laraque will have to put on a show tonight for the Home fans, and I hope Orr is willing to oblige after his war with Godard last night. Some bad blood between these teams from last year, after the Kovalev elbow on Hollweg, and Hollweg running Sergei Kostitsyn from behind into the boards. Orr ended up fighting with Frankie Boullion on the play. I hope it turns into a nasty game but I kind of doubt it... Both teams are looking for wins and are battling for points in the standings. Could just be another yawner. I hope Im wrong.

Just got back. People on the radio thought Orr would have tried starting something or trying to do what he did with Sid the other night. Thing is, BGL is still highly respected and is, no matter what others wanna say, a deterrent for certain things. Usually Orr would have tried running around.
The Habs dominated anyway. Gomez was a bit of a bitch, was hoping to see anyone just thump him at the end but it matters not. The guys stuck up for themselves. Great game. |

What? Komi went after Lucic, they had a good, clean one on one fight.
Laraque is a deterrent to cheap bull****. Nobody stops others from fighting or hitting cleanly. Obviously Yohan, you have a huge hate on for the Habs, and secondly, it's rather clear you dont even have a clue about what an enforcer is supposed to be deterring. Go back to school kiddo. |

That was a personal battle within the overall war. Komisarek and Lucic had been at one another for awhile and both guys are tough, so they settled it like men. Lucic came out on top as expected, and unfortunately Komisarek suffered a shoulder injury. That type of thing happens in hockey fights all the time, although its unfortunate, but you can hardly blame that one on Laraque.
I think what Tucker means is that guys aren't running around as much at the Habs as they were in the previous couple of seasons. Chara has toned his act down considerably against the Habs, Orr was a non-factor tonight, and in general the Canadiens aren't being targetted like they were last season. The only time that happened so far this year was against the Coyotes, and Laraque went out and straightened things out by taking on the very game Todd Fedoruk. When you watch alot of Canadiens games, you can see the presence and respect that he's brought to a lineup that has gone with the "team toughness" approach for far too long. He brings immediate respect and wariness from the opposition. They think twice before they run around, unlike in the past couple of years, and thats a good thing. I wish he would fight more, but his presence is a natural deterrent, and makes the rest of the team play bigger and tougher. Thats everything that an enforcer should bring to the table.

Laraque, got alittle over 11 minutes of ice time yesterday, an two assists, an was a plus two on the night, not bad for a useless goon Laraque has a good presence out there, an makes the rest of the team play like they are a few pounds heavier,an a few inches taller, all in all a good pick-up for the canadiens... |
