I reaallllyyyy hope Maltby/Sammy/Hudler/Kopecky get the boot this off-season. Let some real grit get a turn, and let our young guys play.

As for Dats and Hank getting into fights...look who they are/have been going up against. Malkin and Niedermayer. I'm not worried that they will be "hurt." Game on... |

The Wings aren't scared of Cooke. They aren't scared of Orpik. They aren't scared of Kunitz. Etc... Fighting them just isn't worth their time. |

Yeah...that seems like an Islanders record or something...embarrassing. |

That doesn't mean he's afraid. Why in the world would Z waste his time fighting Malkin or anyone else? Not to mention potentially **** up his hands? It's not a matter of fear. It's a matter of not being stupid.

Ok smart guy. I was also looking at 1987-88 boxscores when the Red Wings were 41-28-11 and they had 114 fights. They made it all the way to the Conference finals only to lose to a team that had 94 fights (The Oilers). Whats your next excuse going to be "that was 20 years ago"? If you want to use modern day I have all boxscores from the Ducks when they won the cup with 70+ fights. Want me to keep going?

Well that was a shocker. Easy to watch as a Wings fan, but I can imagine how disappointing it would be for everyone else. I wouldn't be surprised to see Pittsburgh come out in game 6 and maybe get the win but I don't see them winning two straight, but then again who knows.
Wings came out hitting and I was really impressed by that, Pens were pretty physical as well but then they just got dumb. Yeah there were a few incidents where the Wings weren't too interesting in fighting but look at the big picture here, 1 win from the Stanley Cup and a huge win, I don't really blame the guys for not having the desire to fight a depleted, embarrassed Penguins squad. Let's just say I've seen a lot worse scenarios where the Wings turn the other cheek, because tonight they were banging until the final whistle, even up 5-0. This game wasn't as bad as some of you are making it out to be, but I can understand why you would be frustrated after a game like this. |
