Boston @ Washington 02/05/12
Last ten games Bruins are 4-5-1, Washington 5-3-2.
Season Series: It's the second of four meetings this season. The Caps and Bruins completed the pre-All Star portion of their schedules on Jan. 24 when Washington beat Boston 5-3 at the Verizon Center. Big Story: For the third straight year, the Caps are home for a Super Bowl Sunday matinee -- though unlike the past two, the Boston Bruins are providing the opposition. The Caps, one of the NHL's best home teams, are back at the Verizon Center after Saturday's 3-0 win at Montreal and may be catching the Bruins at the right time -- the B's are in a bit of a funk, losing three of four in a stretch that began with the loss to the Caps 12 days ago. Boston are missing Horton with concussion. Washington still missing Green and Poti with groin injurys and Backstrom has concussion. Stat Pack: Don't expect any third-period comebacks if one team leads after 30 minutes. Boston is a perfect 21-0-0 when leading after two periods; Washington is 16-0-0.

Other than Lucic hitting yesterday i did not see much from the Bruins, as usual when they losr to be honest, so i doubt you will see much if anything. Maybe Campbell will take a beating from Hendricks just to jump start them though, he tends to drop the mitts when needed or need a jump start, but then on the other hand maybe no one wants to watch the SuperBowl with a black eye.

The bruins are going through the motions right now. The Boston Globe today is hinting it may have to do with Timmy not going to see Barry. I disagree. We haven't been our usual dominant selves since the Vancouver game. Also don't think for a minute that the suspensions to Lucic, Marchand and Ference haven't had an effect on our overall physical play. The bruins seem a little gunshy right now when it comes to big hits.
I have to agree with Julien-it's not everyone, but certain guys are not showing up. I love the way the Bergeron-Marchand-Seguin line is playing. The 4th line with campbell-thornton-paille has done their thing but the top line was invisable yesterday. Krejci-Lucic-Peverly had no shots on goal in yesterdays loss and Peverley was benched for most of the 3rd period. Sad.

If the regular season is any indication of what's to come, I think that this one could go the distance. I have the series going to 7, with whatever team has the momentum at that time winning in game 7 OT.
Either way, I think this is one of those series that takes so much out of the teams, that whoever advances will be too tired and mentally beat down to do anything in the second round. |

Good God, let's get the Dale Hunter Caps out of the playoffs post haste.
What a boring team. I'm a big fan of the Bruins style and substance but the Caps can suck the life out of any good time. Poor Ovechkin playing in that mudder org. |
