Well first...what happened over the winter. How Carl went from someone who didn't want to carry guns to now him being past puberty and killing zombies left and right.

And trust me, i don't want, and do not, feel sorry for Lori. I just have a feeling the show is wanting me to have those desired emotions.

Yeah, but Carl always had that inkling for guns/weapons though. He found that hatchet set from the dead guy in car in early season 2 and wanted to run around with the hatchet. Plus Rick gave him a gun to kill walkers at Herschel's farm and he dropped Shane with a precise shot to the head in last season's finale.

Also, anyone else missing Shane?

Good episode, though they'll need to fill in some blanks and really establish the Governor
I thought it was awesome and no, I don't feel sorry for Lori, I can't stand that b1tch. Fock her and her evil bastard, walker baby, I truly hope they follow the comics with her.

Mischonne is awesome in the comics and we've only gotten a brief glimpse of her on the show.

Shane was a complete douche, I don't miss him one bit.

Maggie is the cats meow. I was totally hot for her zombie blood covered body.

I just hope the rest of the season can keep pace with that first episode.

Yeah, Maggie has gone from really cute to completely smoking hot. Amazing an Asian pizza boy is tap'ing that these days.

And I take it Daryl now has a taste for Gilf, in Carol. Yeah, i said Gilf. But i guess, in real life, they're only a few years apart. Though she's almost 50 and Norman Reedus (Daryl) is early 40s.

I would say there's a chance of a zombie baby. Its sure been done in years past.

My only gripe from the premiere is that we're supposed to believe 6 or 7 months have passed since they left the farm, because of how pregnant Lori is. You're telling me that absolutely nothing happened during that time? No one died? They found no other survivors? They never ran out of food or ammo? In that time period, they never found the prison? Even though they were right beside it in the 2nd season finale.

With that out of the way, I thought it was a good episode. I don't think Hershel is going to make it. I was surprised T-Dog made it through the 2nd season. He seems more like a background character. But maybe they're keeping him around for when Merle comes back. And what's with Carl and Beth? Carl is still a young kid at like 8 or 9 right? Beth seems to be in her mid-late teens. Is she a cougar-in-training? Lol. And finally, is Andrea infected? It never said why she's so sick.

Why are you not able to believe its been 6 or 7 months? Thats how longs its been since last season...if anything that was really easy to accept. They spent a brief amount of time showing how they survived the winter going from neighborhood to neighborhood and house to house raiding what they could find until they had hit every house so many times there was nothing left. As for the ammo - did you notice the way they were killing all the zombies they enountered at the houses, they are so good at killing walkers now they were just using farming tools to save the ammo...even at the prison they were poking them in the face with tools - they were saving the ammo they had and they used it on the field of prisoner walkers. Carl is 12 in the show unlike the comic series, and Beth is supposed to be 16 years old i believe. As for andrea, everyone is 'infected' but no her 'virus' isnt active... shes just sick because they have been living in a deer locker all winter and probably has the flu with no medicine...i dont think asprin was the answer if she was turning into a zombie. My question on the season opener is, are they in a lesbian relationship now?

Because they were at the farm for only a few weeks and **** hit the fan. So nothing happened in 6-7 months? That's a LONG time in a zombie apocalypse. I'm not really complaing about the show itself though, I love it. THE best show on TV today. It's just I can't get past that little detail.

Mischonne is definitely not a lesbo, one of her "pets" is her boyfriend who turned and the other is her brother or neighbor, can't remember. She's smart and lethal.

Andrea is just sick, prolly the flu or something.

I have no beef with the timeline, they put that together pretty well. The prison was only a few miles away but they finally found it while hunting. Seems a little far fetched but ok.

What will really bake your noodle is that Woodbury, in the comics, is also close by but they haven't found that yet either, nor have they found Andrea and Mischonne. My guess is that they will find them in Woodbury around episode 4 or 5, just a guess, no spoilers here.

They always say not to guess or predict what'll happen but it's really hard not to. Shane died in the comics in a very similar way except he was about to shoot Rick and Carl shoots him in the neck. Rick buries him and comes back later to dig him up so he can shoot him in the head. LOL

The way he died on the show, with Carl killing him was as close as they could get to the books because they won't show an underage kid shooting a human on TV but they'll show him shooting a zombie.

Carl is annoying because he's a punk kid but he can handle himself. He also has the worst luck in the books too. They can get away with a hell of a lot more in the books than the show.

Nice to see everybody again! I loved the season 3 premiere. Yes, the whole timetable for finding the prison is a little wonky...but I got over it pretty quick. There were zombies galore and I frickin' love Michonne.

I too was a little disappointed with the 6-7 month jump in time. Hard to imagine so much crazy crap happenning in a few weeks and then nothing for months. That being said, really enjoyed episode one for this season. Lots of action and the whole prison setting has great potential for horror and suspense. Not being a follower of the comic, i have no idea what to expect with the governor or mischonne. As for the group, I like that Rick is getting a little dark and could care less about Lori. Carl just has a crush...nothing more. I actually felt bad for Herschel when he got bit but couldnt believe it when Rick lopped his lower leg off hoping to save him. Doubt it will work, but was sick to watch. And I agree that Maggis is getting really hot! Cant wait for episode 2.

You just have to suspend disbelief in the timeline.

Just take it for what it is, they spent the winter foraging and scouring the area for weapons, ammo, whatever food they could find, and developing tactics for fighting off walkers.

The use of the Phalanx goes back to ancient Greece and allows a group to fight off attacks from all sides, protect each other's backs and as long as there isn't a weak link it is very hard to defeat, certainly by shambling rotting corpses. The only time they had trouble was with the guards wearing riot gear which was just bloody genius. The one with the gas mask on was just priceless, one of the best zombies they've created to date.

So anyway, that's what they've been doing all winter, getting tougher, meaner, colder, and darker and it shows. Herschel was a vetrenarian and a farmer and is in his 60's or 70's so it makes sense that he got bit.

In the books it was Allen who got bit but he wasn't on the show, ever. Rick hacks his leg off in the prison yard after got bit in A block. Allen ended up dying from blood loss and it was Herschel who tried to save him, ironically.

I love how the show keeps to the spirit of the books without totally copying it, it makes it much more unpredictible but when they do something memorable, it often follows the books in an alternate way. Awesome.

I haven't watched this show yet but I've heard nothing but good things. I have some free time coming up on my hands so I am going to start season 1 and see how I like it.

The show grows on you.

season one was just okay.

season two much better.

season three premiere: awesome.

A lot happens on this show. Sometimes too much to even conceive believability. the parts with the kid are a bit of a stretch. Somehow he always finds a way to seperate himself from his mom and be exposed to danger.

But overall the show is growing as a cult favourite.
