**** him over? The captain didn't catch any crab, and he decided to make Jake look bad. The weed was the captain's way of trying to take the blame off of him. No matter how your view is on weed, the guy has to catch crab.... and he failed..... and it wasn't because of a tinfoil pipe.

So, lets just bail on the rest of the season? He wanted to give it another go, the crew just bailed. Yes, a gamble to lose more money, or a chance to make $. I think the weed tied into it more than what the cameras show. Who knows what other issues existed we didn't know about. Might have been personal, being he was Phils friend.

I hope they rebound with the opilios.

Yeah, when you're out there for half a season and catch 0 crab, you should bring it in. Of course that idiot captain wanted to go again, it's not his money they're wasting. Of course they'll rebound, there can't be 2 captains who can't catch crab.

You think he was paid his full share? He most likely didn't make any money, and actually lost a decent amount. We see things in a different perspective. I see a untrustworthy crew who bailed early, and didn't give the captain a fair chance to salvage the season.

Did you watch every episode? Did you see capt douchey lunge at that senior deckhand who has been on the show for years like he was going to hit him or tackle him? That was the first day on the boat. Which may have been okay... if he knew how to catch crab, which he obviously doesn't. worst captain that show has or will ever see, imo.

Captain Phil could be a dick sometimes, keith can be a dick, sig can be a dick. you know why? They catch crab and put money in their hands wallets.

But I respect your opinion. We will see how they do with the captain.

There was tension that already existed even before they left the dock.

It doesn't matter where the tension came from, the captain shouldn't lunge at anybody, plain and simple. Especially a new captain who doesn't own the boat. You ever see Sig Hansen lunge at anybody? Hell no, he wants his crew to respect him. The dude commanded 0 respect and got 0 respect. Then tried to pass the blame onto some kid smoking weed, maybe. I'm sure this isn't the first boat on the show to have somebody smoking weed on it, but it is the only boat that I've ever seen not to have caught crab.

Looks like the new Captain of the Cornelia Marie's isn't going to take Jake fishing if he won't take a drug test first. Anyways good season so far. I thought it was funny watching the Seabrooke get egged big time.

On last weeks episode of "After the Catch", all the skippers sitting at the round table agreed Derek was in a "no win situation" when it came to captaining the Cornelia Marie. In addition, they all would give a very high recommendation for him. Behind the cameras, we really don't know what's going on.

Sure, he still didn't catch any crab. And what did you ecpect them to say? No, he sucks? they sure didn't ask any of the captains what they thought about him lunging at deckhands or dogging out captain phil though. I surely never said the harris boys were perfect, but the bottom line is the guy didnt catch crab, and he dogged everybody out including the dead captain. Then he tried to make the weed issue his excuse. real leaders don't have excuses, they make things right. Like Sig. You think none of those guys on Sig's boat never smoked some weed? Please.

I'm sure there's more to the situation the show didn't divulge. There's more to this that simply armchair quarterbacking the situation and staying tunneled on the only fact he didn't catch crab. You sure have your head soley wrapped around that. No other factors are relevant? Yeah, of course he didn't catch crab. That's the main issue, but there could be other pertinent issues here. I'm sure the skippers do find some fault with Derek, but they aren't endorsing him simply because they're under pressure from the cameras. Give them some credit. I sure didn't see any of them jump to the Harris boys defense. And there's a past history of in-fighting amongst these crews-Wizard and Time Bandit and so forth.

When you're working for the crew who also owns the boat, there's a potential for huge problems. Unless you're involved with behind scenes production of the show, you simply don't know what other factors are involved. The captain bares most of the responsibility. But the crew needs to own up also. Alot of provoking and lack of respect from both ends. This is quite personal, based on what I can tell from their interactions. Bad blood from before Phils death, I don;t know.

F the weed, tell me they are not all drunks big time. As far as the Harris boy's one of them seems pretty cool, but i will also say seemed like Derek was calling him out and he wanted no part of that. The other one whether he is sober or not, sure as hell looks like he is on drugs.

They are certainly on something, Suks i try to watch it. But seems like i always catch a re-run and do not feel like watching 3 Hr's of it to catch up, then when i do seems like i fall asleep like i am sure alot do on here, Typical me i watched the last one that you guys are talking about and fell asleep maybe 45 Mins into it, never fails.

I'm with you on this, that Carb-less Captain's a complete douchebag and should not be on the show ever again. Granted smoking dope and doing that job sounds extremely dangerous, but maybe he's like me and smokes it at the end of a long day before bed. After a nights sleep there's no way you can still feel high.
