What a huge ****ing disappointment! No fights in Lukko-Ässät game. Patrik Moisio (Ässät) challenged Matt Generous (Lukko) but Generous just turned away. Have to say I was worried of this after Lukko announced that one of Finlands biggest pacifists Risto Dufva is their new coach. I was especially afraid that there would be no fights after the anti-fighting comments by Dufva in news papers.

And the first player to drop gloves in Finland this season is Tappara's Ville Nieminen who shed his mits on Wednesday against Tommi Huhtala of Blues. The fight wasn't much as Huhtala didn't drop his gloves and got only 2min roughing minor and Nieminen got 2min for cross-checking+2min for roughing+10min misconduct for dropping gloves. Not a very good start of season so far.

Yesterday we had a fight in HPK-Ässät game, Antti Aarnio (HPK) vs Jani Honkanen (Ässät). The fight started after agitator Aarnio had layed some hits on Ässät's player and Honkanen wanted him to stop. Reports say win Honkanen.

A nice weekend so far for Finnish teams. Yesterday we had the Aarnio-Honkanen fight in Kultakeskus-tournament that was mentioned earlier. Also yesterday in European trophy Jonathan Ferland (Vienna Capitals) and Antti Halonen (KalPa) had something that was discribed as faustkampf(=fist fight) in the Vienna Capitals homepage. Ferland got 2+2+10min and Halonen 2+10min. Today in we had three events. In European Trophy TPS' young defender Rasmus Ristolainen took on Christian Dubé of Swiss Fribourg-Gotteron. Both got 2+2+10min. The bronze medal game in Kultakeskus-turnaus also had a fight, Tuomas Vänttinen (HPK) vs Petri Meri (Sport), both 5+Game. And finally in Easton-tournament game between Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod and Pelicans' Ryan O'Marra had a fight with so far anonymous Torpedo player who had been giving hard time to O'Marra's team mate Timo Pärssinen. Both fighters got 2+5+Game for their effort.

Some action in European Trophy game between local rivalries Jokerit and HIFK!
First, at 1.59 Ilari Melart (HIFK) drops his gloves and jumps Jarkko Ruutu (Jokerit). Ruutu turtles and Melart gets 5+Game, no penalty to Ruutu. Then, at 6.47 Semir Ben-Amor (Jokerit) retaliates and attacks Ville Peltonen (HIFK). HIFK immediately reatialtes that attack as Mikko Jokela jumps Jokerit's Jani Rita. Here's ome quotes from the official European Trophy site: "01:59 Then Melart jumps on Ruutu without his gloves. The IFK defender is ejected from the game. 01:59 Melart gets 5 minutes for roughing and a game misconduct. PP for Jokerit." "06:47 Multiple fights going on on the ice! 06:47 Ben-Amor jumped on Peltonen who has a hard time going off the ice. After that Jokela started a fight with Rita who didn't drop his glove. Jokela and Ben-Amor are ejected from the game. 06:47 The refs are discussing about the penalties right now. 06:47 It's clear that this brawl was started by Ben-Amor. After that, IFK reacted. 06:47 Peltonen looked like he had a concussion in the hands of Ben-Amor. Two players had to help him get off the ice. 6:47 And here come the penalties: Jokela 2+5 mins + game misconduct, Töykkälä 2 mins roughing, Rita 5 mins + game misconduct, Ben-Amor 2+5 mins + game misconduct, Väänänen 2 mins for roughing. IFK will have almost a five minute PP when the Melart penalty ends"
