Fighters in Germany 2008-09

The following guys can drop the gloves:

DEL ( highest division)

Augsburg Panthers:

#1 Fighter: Paul Flache, 6.6 Defender, who doesnt like to fight and doesnt play really aggressive, but he is a damn good fighter who will play physical and stand up for his teammates.
There is no loose in his dyg fightcard but wins over Mike Amodeo, Kyle Wanvig, Zenon Konopka and Eric Labelle. Also beat down a german youngster in Thomas Oppenheimer last season who was for sure no match up for an experienced fighter in Flache .
http://www.scriessersee.de/video/07-...ppenheimer.php

standarts.

Other guys: Mark Murphy, good scorer, Wins against Moen,Platil,Kuznik
Brett Englhardt not a good fighter but size
Thomas Gödtel, good size had some fights here in Germany
Scott Barney great size for german, big powerforward $ goalgetter, best fight
was his draw against Peter Vandermeer, win over Mike Fischer

They got so much tougher than last season. Great JOB !

Eisbären Berlin

#1 Fighter : Denis Pederson, old but still a great Leader, good team player
had fights against Shawn Thornton,Grand-Pierre, Todd Simpson,
Dave Manson, Rich Pilon, Rob Ray, Slivain Blouin and great
battles vs Craiv Rivet und co.

other guys: Steve walker, their mvp, doesnt fight a lot but had some good
battles in IHL but I dont think he will fight once.

They should go for a bit more toughness.

Duisburg Füchse

#1 Fighter: Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre, I dont think I have to tell much about
him! Germany is perfecet for him. He doesnt fight enough to be a
#1 in North America but he is a real good fighter with wins over
Scott Parker, Martin Laitre, Bonvie, Tobler, Odgers, Mike Brown,
and sooo many heavyweights in his fightcard.
For example Trevor Gillies and Paul Crosty last season.
In Germany he doesnt have to fight too often but if a teammates
gets cheapshotted he will be there and prolly beat down the
aggressor.

other guys: Alexander Selivanov doesnt like to get slashed so he maybe gets
into a fight this year.
Anton Bader is a big German who had 19 fights during his
North-american time icl. Derek Parker, Severson,Ondrus, Worlton.
Anyway a bad fighter.

DEG Metro Stars

#1 Fighter: Not really a big, strong fighter but many gritty guys:

others: Ryan Ramsay, had a great last season, playing with an
edge but also scoring good. Has Stortini, Nathan McIver,
Voros, Desbiens, Deveaux in his fightcard.

Brad Tutschek had 14 Fights in whl alone in the 96-97
Season- Decent whl middleweight with fights against
Lupaschuk, Barret Jackman, Wanvig, Tootoo

Andy Hedlund had draws against some tough
middleweights in Brandon Nolan, Kris Newbury but also fought
Nathan Perrot, Gaustad, Goertzen, Voros,

Daniel Kreutzer is also a little pittbull who never gives
up.

Ryan Caldwell has arround 5,6 fights every season, not a good fighter but
has a good size, plays physicall and has guys like Skolney, Neilson, Rossiter,
Henry, Staubitz, Voros, Barch in his fightcard. Not bad for a young player like he is.

Toughness is okay, but I can see them going for more tougher players. Ramsay loves to play aggressive and Caldwell will bring in some toughness to the defensive. They dont have a problem with toughness.

Frankfurt Lions

#1 Fighter: Lance Ward Prolly Swedens best fighter last Season.
Very well known in the NHL, tough Defender with many fights
against heavyweights like Strudwick, Graham Belak, Kyle
Freadrich, Scott Parker, Joel Theriault, Bonvie, McMorrow and so
on. Had a good win in his last NHL Fight against big Mike
Hoffman.

others: Sebastian Osterloh plays very tough for an german player
Pat Kavanagh not a good fighter but willing playing with Grit
Jason Young gritty Veteran
Jamie Wright same as Young. Has fought Hnidy,Jason
Marshall, draw against Ben Ondrus, Sean Gagnon, Jeremy
Stevenson,

They also brought in M.Biron who is huge, doesnt like to fight but is not bad for german standarts.
They have a great, tough Team- Lance Ward will definitly bring in some great hits and prolly some fights too to the DEL.

Hamburg Freezers

#1 Fighter: they dont really have a #1 Fighter
Maybe John Tripp fits in here because of his size. He
plays a tough player
but I dont think he interested in fighting that much. Anyway he
throws some of the hardest checks in the leaque. Had a edge
in a fight against Wade Skolney last season. His NHL Fights
were not so good but was the champ in his last OHL Season.
Nearly killed a guy in a fight and kind of stopped fighting then.
Has still guys like Shawn Thornton, Darcy Hordichuk, Ryan
Tobler, Wade Brookbank in his profi career. TKO'd Aitken in
AHL, then got Ko'd by Aitken in NHL.

others: Clarke Wilm decent nhl/ahl middleweight who had fought a lot of heavys in his career too. Ndur, Brad Brown, Rob Trumbley,
Trent Cull, DJ Smith, Jason Strudwick, Richard Scott, Sean
McMorrow, Chris Neil,Wade Brookbank-
Prolly a better fighter than John Tripp.

Rob Leask old, veteran defender, tough no big fighter
Brad Smyth Had fought Nazarov, Ken Baumgartner,
Karpa, Ryan Bast, Schnabel, Helenius, Tobler, Cull, Sugden,
Rullier, Boulerice, Doull, Skolney, Zinger just to name some
tough guys. And he had done well against them earning some
draws.

Jere Karalahti good physical player with a lot of NA Experience

Hannover Scorpions:

#1 Fighter: they really have a guy who I would like to see fighting Grand-Pierre or Ward

other guys: Chris Herperger is a hard worker and will fight if he have to do. Has fought
Wade Belak, Jason Marshall, Trevor Doyle, Geordie Kinnear, Bob Boughner

Matt Dzieduszycki might fight if he have to do- had 5 fights in his last ECHL
Season before coming to Germany. Fought Amadio.

They have to pick up some fighters!!

ERC Ingolstadt

#1 Fighter: They dont have one big heavy but some guys who will drop them

other guys: Allan Rourke doesnt fight often but had wins against Krys Barch, great
toe-toe fight with Eric Nydstrom,
and fought Jay Henderson, Graham Belak, Travis Moen, Cam Janssen, Jimmy Roy,
Brian McGrattan, Kris Newbury,
Bruno St.Jacques good body checker who can also drop them. Fought
Jeff Paul, beat Brooks Oprik, fought Jason Beckett, John Jakopin, Darcy Verot, Joe
Rullier, Ben Eager, Dean Arsene
Jason Holland not a fighter, but if he fights he can hold his own very well,
had fought Zinger, Artukhin, Severson, Virtue, Chad Cabana, Lapointe, Jason
Bowen.

Yves Sarault very gritty Leader, decent middleweight, had fought
Dandenault 2x, Boughner and draw against Barry Dreger.

Eric Nickulas not a fighter, but a very strong forward, worker, fought Law,
Rullier, Hnidy, Bouillon, Reich, Staples

Matt Keith not a fighter but a gritty energy guy

Jean-Francois Boucher had 2x seasons with over 100 pms in 31 and 30
games at NCCA.. I heard he was voted to best body checker there. very physical
player, likes the rough stuff. I am sure he has learned somewhere before college
how to fight. His job is the dirty work.

Good toughness on defensive and offensive.

Iserlohn Roosters

#1 Fighter: tough to call- They have many guys who are equal quality.
I will pick Ryan Ready
He is a hard working power forward.
Fought Kip Brennan, Grand-Pierre, Tetarenko, VanOene, John Erskine,
Trent Cull, DJ Smith, Erik Reitz, etc.
Had a draw against Matt Carkner, Shane O'Brien,
Had wins over Jay Harrisson, Aaron Rome, Charlie Stephens, L.Robitaille

others: Where to start?
Jimmy Roy crazy, tough little boy.
had fought : Dandenault, Dj King, Brad Staubitz, Kip Brennan, Josh Gratton
just to name the heavys.
Had over 100 career fights! And fought a lot here too.

Brendan Buckley Tetarenko 2x times, Ondrus, Thorburn, Voros,
Parros 2x, Staubitz and some others.

Chris Schmidt 6.3 212 team player, unterrated, fought Ryan Bast,
Sean Gagnon, Shawn Thornton, Craig Mills, Jeff Sullivan, Dwyer, Leach
beat down Brennen Evans, Mike Martin easily.

Ben Simon gritty forward, fought Dreger,Buchberger, etc.

Even their Stars like Marty Wilford or little Bob Wren
could defend their selves well if they have to do.
Wilford had draws against Eric Laplante, Guillaume Lefrevbvre, fought
Sheldon Brookbank,
Wren had a draw against G.Kinnear according to DYG and some other
fights.
Brad Tapper might start some fights.

They will be one of the toughest teams again. They have a lot of willing guys and play a gritty style.

Kassel Huskies

#1 Fighter: no one

others:
Drew Bannister not a good fighter too but with some names on his
fight card. Martin Lapointe, Gordie Dwyer, Todd Hawkins, Tyler Willis, Luke
Richardson.
Colin Beardsmore Not really close to be a fighter but with his 6.2 Size
and little experience Rob Davison, Matt Zultek,Mike Stewart I guess he has
to defend the stars a bit.
Ryan Gaucher same for him, had some fights in WHL ( berry, mylmock)

They are damn weak.

Kölner Haie

#1 Fighter: none so far

others: Todd Warriner no fighter, but good Size
Andy Renz German who works hard, good teammate, could wrestle some guys
down

They need some fighters too.

Krefeld Pinguine

Serge Payer who had #34 career fights.
Fought Mair, Zehr, Ian Forbes, Marchment, Dave Roche, Reid Simpson, Grant
Marshall, Cody McCormick

Charlie Stephens 6.3 220, fought Kiser, Montador, Jay Harrisson,
Danny Bois, Marc Moro, Nick Kuiper, Jay Rosehill. Not that good fighter. Had 1
or 2 fights in DEL too.
Jim Fahey willing but not very good. some good guys at fightcard.
Lynn Loyns small guy, but decent fighter, grinder type,
fought Jim Vandermeer, Greg Black, Exelby, Cam McCaffrey, Drew Fata, Brad
Staubitz and beat 6.3 Tim Conboy.
Shay Stephenson good size, 6.4 forward, fought Mitch love 3x,

Their toughness is decent. Nothing special but not bad . Not one great fighter, more many gritty guys.

Adler Mannheim

#1 Fighter: Peter Flache He is on try out contract. 3 months.
I hope they sign him on regl. basis. He is very huge, stronge guy. He is 6.5
He doesnt fight a lot but if he does he can beat everyone in the DEL.
Had fought his own brother Paul Flache in OHL,
had fought Brian McGrattan, Chanse Fitzpatrick, Nate Kiser 2x, Cam Janssen,
Brad Staubitz, Steven Spencer, Eric Labelle, Greg Amadio, Kevin Bergin,
Nathan Saunders, Conrad Martin ,Curtiss Patrick,
had wins over OHL Champ at this time John Hecimovic, or good fighter Nick
Thomas, Matt Herneisen and from what I read also over Aaron Boogard last
season.
As the Eagles are my favourite Team I would love to see them signing him on
regl. basis. He wont take silly pm's but can defend them against Lance Ward.

others: Rene Corbet Bad fighter but willing and loves to start trouble.
Fought heavyweight Roman Vopat,
but also Brendan Witt, Brendan Shanahan, Luke Richardson, Shane Hnidy,
had draws against Rich Pilon,Jason Smith,Derrick Morris,
and won against DJ Smith, Steve Kelly, Steve Staois.

Blake Sloan not a fighter, but plays with a lot of heart fought
Jutras, Denis Pederson, Jason MacDonald
Pascal Trepanier doesnt play tough here, middleweight for DEL
standarts, but with some fights overseas vs. Gillingham, Jason Bowen,
Barnaby, Avery,

Marcus Kink good body-checker who tried to fill in the enforcer Role
last season
Sven Butenschon terrible Fighter, but great teammate.
Has maybe never won a fight besides the one against Ryan Malone , but
still fought Gagnon, Bonvie, Payette, Chara, Odgers, Vukota, Raby,
Burnett, Christian Gosselin, Martin Laitre, Todd Fedoruk, Francis Lessard,
Shawn Thornton, Brad Winchester.

Well, it all depends if they sign big Peter Flache who did well in the ECHL last season. With him I am very confident, without him they are lacking a real fighter.

Sinupret Ice Tigers

#1 Fighter: There were rumors they were trying to get Alex Henry
which shows they might go for a big, tough Defender.
If not it will be Alain Nasreddine.
He has not been too active in the last years but had fought in his
career against soo many heavyweights like Flinn, mike Brown, Bonvie,
Brennan, Ettinger, Rocky Thompson, Kevin Savyer, Downey, Lakovic
etc. He had really fought much more heavyweight but I am to lazy to
list them all. He had some draws against the heavyweights.
As a 6.1 Guy he mostly goes for the quick takedown instead of going
toe-toe but he would prolly drop the gloves against
Ward,Grand-Pierre and Co for the team without getting killed . Had
over 100 Career fights.

others: Brad Leeb fought some big guys in Matt Walker, Cory Sarich,
Mike Brown. Draw against Joe rullier. Over 20 c. Fights.

Shawn Carter 6.2 teamguy who had fought Jason Bowen,
Matt O'Dette, Doody Wood, Darren Banks, Dandenault, Karpa, Gavin
Morgan, Scott Nichols, Barret Jackman, Libor Ustrunul,

Cole Jarrett only 5.11, had 25 career fights, middleweight
has somehow Martin Grenier, Nick Jones, Brett Angel, Daniel Bois,
BJ Crombeen, David Clarkson, Daniel Carcillo on his fightcard.

Robert Francz prolly best german born fighter, real
powerforward, came back after nearly beeing 2 years injured,
had carried the enforcer job in germany before for many years,
learned to fight in the ohl, had 57 points and 171 in only 65 games for
Peterborough Petes 1999- Biggest win would be over Kip Brennan in
OHL. Had a good fight against tough customer in Tyler Willis.
Already had 2 mini fights in the last 2 pre season games here.
As Nasreddinne is used as an importand defender he will do the
enforcing for the Icetigers.

They lost Sean Brown and Chris Laflamme but they replaced them with Alain Nasredinne and Robert Francz. So they will have a real good toughness again.

Straubing Tigers

#1 Fighter: Wade Skolney not a big, but a very good lefty Fighter.
74 fights in his young career. Fought Triston Grant, Ryan Bonni, Matt
Sommerfeld, Steve Crampton, Brett Clouthier, Mike Brown, Robin Gomez, Yuri
Moscevsky, Reed Low 2x, Francis Lessard, Greg Amadio to name just the
toughest rivals! Had won against Amadio, Moscevsky, Lance Ward! , Jay
Henderson, Gavin Morgan according to DYG.

others: Brian Maloney Had fought Shane O'Brien 2x, Jeremy Reich, Jay
Henderson, Greg Amadio, Brandon Prust, Ondrus, won/draw against Virtue,
Aaron Rome, Keefe,
Chad Bassen small dude, who can fight, won against Jason Jaspers
at DEL opener 2 years ago, fought Mitch Love, Jason Seibel in WHL and
some others.
Andy Canzanello had some fights too ( rypien, tyson marsh, cloutier)
Eric Meloche plays a gritty style for a 5.10 guy, fought Walsh, Cody
McLeod, Carcillo, Lefebrve, Janik

They look good to me fighting wise. Skolney and Malone keep care of both sides of the ice.

EHC Wolfsburg

#1 Fighter will be Ken Magowan a power forward type,
who had won against Mitch Love, Ryan Donally, Malcom MacMillan, and
fought monster Lane Manson, Gino Pisellini, Jeff Szwez, Andre Deveaux, Hans
Benson, Sean Curry, Jason Kostadine, Daryl Pierce, Chris Cava, Desbiens,
Beckett etc. in only 3 ECHL/AHL seasons !!

others: Fredrik Svensson is pretty tough for a Swedish Player, fought Sean
Brown last season! , won most of his fights in sweden,
Norm Milley is their star player but can also defend his self-
Had a draw against Jeremy Reich, beat Shawn Limpright, fought big Ryan
Bonni.
They also have Arvids Rekis and big Michael Henrich for a line brawl.

They will do fine too. They dont have a real big heavyweigh but Magowan and Svensson will keep care of the team.

2nd Division and 3rd Division will follow soon with some more tough players.

I hope you guys could remember some of those guys playing and maybe even found some players you missed.

Thanks, I'll check it out during the season. I remember several years ago when I could see DSF at home and they showed games every week if I remember correctly. Or it could have been just during the playoffs.

there is a pay chanell called Premiere-
They show one or two games life in a week-
But I dont have it.

Last year 2nd division had a 30 minutes serie on DSF.
They showed the highlights from 4 games and always had a 2 minutes story about a player or team. I hope they will do it again this year.

Paul Flache has signed with Augsburg and can be seen as their #1 Fighter.
He is 6.6 225 lb and definitly knows how to fight.
Anyway he doesnt have the temper to be a fighter which is kind of disappointing as he would be a good fighter for sure.

He had clear wins against Zenon Konopka and heavyweight Eric Labelle-
It always makes me wonder why he had not fought more when playing for a weak Soundtigers Team.
Anyway he is a good teamplayer who will stick up for his teammates and then can fight everyone with his long reach.

Good signing for Augsburg who have 2 very big guys in Thomas Gödtel 6.5 and Paul Flache 6.6 -

I wonder if they still go for Curthis Murhphy.

I know that Wilford is not a fighter-
Have I wrote he is fighter?

I wrote for a STAR PLAYER he can defend his self for german standarts-
by defending his own well against Laplante for example-.

I never said that those guys are fighters-

Why dont you bash Grand-Pierre, Lance Ward and co?

All I said is that those guys had fought a bit in their career too-

You prolly dont know anything about german

so whats your problem?

Norm Milley is their star player but can also defend his self-
Had a draw against Jeremy Reich, beat Shawn Limpright, fought big Ryan
Bonni.

cant you read? Where have I said he is a fighter?
All I said is that he can defend his self well for german standarts . He is a star player here.
I dont think many guys from the whole Red Wings Team can beat down limpright or fight Reich to a an draw.

I never said Germany is a tough leaque or anything like this.

I just listed some guys who are playing here and where they play and how I see it.
