FEL League Page

We now have a FEL page.

It has the same exact features that the other league pages have: latest fights listed, top leaders, latest videos, schedule, etc. We're looking to institute archives in the near future so stay tuned for that as well.

Are there many fights in that league? I know they've got a few guys over there who throw them, like Sami Helenius and Kip Brennan, but how is it overall?

Somewhat active. Probably about 100 total fights a year or so, but the key is that notable players from the NHL or the minors are always popping up. For instance this year - Kip Brennan, Sami Kapanen, Sami Helenius, Matt Nickerson, Dale Clarke, Steve Kariya, Colby Genoway, Jussi Timonen, Daniel Corso, Antti Laaksonen, Shayne Toporowski - all are in the league for starters.

Are you serious?? There are not 100 fights in one season, come on! 30 at most. Following the FEL-page here there were 12 fights this season and almost half of it is done.

No we don't. We have 14 fights.

A fight is when at least one major is given. Not when someone looks angry at each other which seems to get logged there as a "fight". Most of that is roughing, not fighting.

Go to the boxscores on the FEL site, that will show you there are 14 fights. That's the official source, not DYG.

I don't know where they've got 28 from.

They have this logged as a fight:

Quote:
Masi Marjamäki - väkivaltaisuus 2 min - käytösrangaistus 10 min 58.19
Henri Laurila - käytösrangaistus 10 min
Michal Birner - päähän kohdistuva taklaus 2 min - automaattinen käytösrangaistus 10 min
There's no fight there, that's why their numbers are off..

No major/match penalties, no fight.

In this video at about 2:40 Juha Kiilholma and Leo Komarov drop their gloves and start fighting. For some unknown reason the referee gave them only 2+10 minutes for roughing. So it is not a fight? I'm only asking this because they clearly should have got 5+game and because here in Finland players have been thrown out for "fights" like this:

No, you need a level of consistency, and that level is majors. There are some instances when majors are given out when they shouldn't be and some when they should be and aren't but to get consistency across all leagues we use majors since not every game/incident is seen.

So if there are no majors given (it only needs one player to get the major) we do not log it as a fight to use a system in line with all leagues.

I know how this site works and I truly accept it. But still when two players drop their gloves and start exchanging punches but no major(s) given, I find it somehow stupid not to call it a fight but I also have no problem understanding why it is not called a figh. And this system where major is a fight and no major is not a fight makes it much clearer what you call a fight compared to the DYG system. And when I'm on this site, I'll go by the rules. And when I'm on DYG I'll go by their rules.
