Phantoms Trade JT Stenglein to Musketeers for Cam Brown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown Phantoms have acquired forward Cam Brown, a second-round pick in the 2013 USHL Entry Draft, a third-round pick in the 2013 USHL Futures Draft and future considerations from the Sioux City Musketeers in exchange for forward JT Stenglein, the rights to affiliate forward Max Becker and a fourth-round pick in the 2013 USHL Futures draft, head coach and general manager Anthony Noreen announced today.

Brown, 19, was selected by the Musketeers in the first round (seventh overall) of last May's USHL Entry Draft and is committed to the University of Maine. The 5-foot-7, 150-pound forward has registered four goals, three assists and seven points through 16 games this season. He is expected to make his Phantoms debut tonight against Team USA and will wear No. 8.

"Cam Brown is a dynamic, speedy, play-making centerman, who plays at the pace that we want to play" Noreen said. "By all accounts he's an unbelievable person and team guy, which was the No. 1 thing we were looking for, and he will hopefully provide some secondary scoring as well."

A native of Natick, Mass., Brown spent the past two seasons with the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs of the Eastern Junior Hockey League winning back-to-back of league championships. He finished second in scoring for the Jr. Monarchs last season with 16 goals, 35 assists and 51 points and was named to the EJHL All-Star team.

Brown recorded 27-53-80 in 81 career regular season games and added 1-10-11 in 13 career playoff games with New Hampshire.

Stenglein put up 6-5-11 in 11 games with the Phantoms this season and recorded 38-27-65 over three years in Youngstown. His 31 goals scored in 2011-12 set a single-season record for the franchise.

"I'd like to thank JT for his time and effort here and wish him nothing but the best in the future," Noreen said. "There are no hard feelings or ill-will involved in the deal. We just felt that this was something that was best for both sides involved."

He hasn't fought, so it's no big deal. Padulo > Stenglein

Yeah, I know he hasn't fought, but seems like especially at the beginning of the year he was good at stirring it up!
