No news is one thing, I get it for that now, I meant people that follow celebrities and reality shows and such.

Facebook reportedly makes $800,000,000 a year, which I think is undervaluing them, because it doesn't take into account the third party companies (Zynga et. al) making money off of them. Twitter PURPORTEDLY makes $250 million, but I think that number is grossly over-inflated. Twitter has sponsored tweets, and sponsored accounts, but they really haven't figured out how to market it yet. It's very unsophisticated as of yet.

Step 1: make twitter.
Step 2: Celebrity followers.
...
Step 4: Profit!

I've tried and 90% of the **** out there does nothing for me. I just got a smart phone about a month ago because it was free and I figured why not to see what the big deal was and I just think it's pointless. There are a few things that are convenient but other than that I could do without. To me most of the crap that is part of the "technological revolution" is **** corporations have hired advertising firms to brainwash the public into believing they can't live without it.

I swear to God the next person that checks their phone or text when I'm trying to talk to them face to face is going to get the **** slapped out of them.

I'm open to anything though, give me an example of something that is a must have or will make my life easier and I'll give it a shot but so far I haven't found it.

Such a pessimistic POV, no offence

Smart phones are incredible technology. You have information in your friggen pocket/palm of your hand.

Ads are also inevitable and have been that way for YOUR whole lifetime and mine. Take time out of your day to learn the capabilities of the phone and trust me you'll love it. My dad is 58yrs old and has an iPhone and loves it. He is pretty technological advanced for his age ha.

I also agree with the whipping out the phone mid convo, that's kinda bull****. A while back I was at a bar and me and my friends were observing a table of about 5 or 6 girls who all weren't talking to each other, they all had their phones buried in their faces. Leading me to believe you can actually have a cell phone addiction. But yeah, it is pretty annoying when people are paying attention to their phone when you're trying to talk to them.

For apps tho, I love social media or social interaction apps. Get twitter, facebook, instagram, snapchat. Those are my favs. GPS apps are cool, you can get an app that has doppler. Just google cool apps and pick what you like.

Trust me your phone can do ten fold more things than you think it can. Texting and calling are just basic features these days. And snake is still cool.

Some of those girls were probably texting each other. Those friggen phones are making people social idiots. I find it so funny/sad when people walk around stores with those things in their hands like it will take them too long to get it out of their pockets if someone texts them, (probably some totally insignificant thing like how much sugar they just put in their coffee).

And with twitter, why do we have to know IMMEDIATELY about trades, ufa's, celbrity gossip etc. It's not as if it makes you cool to break the news to your friends because you spent all afternoon with your face in your phone "following" Nick Kypreos' every word. Then again nowadays, I guess that is what is cool

I dont own a cell phone and have no interest, I dont want a leash.

I do see how they are useful, BUT....

If you own a one of these smartphones that cost $500 - $800 of whatever the cost is and pay $80 a month or more, you are a ****ing moron.

But then you can make going to the bar with friends annoying as hell by looking up every single topic that comes up and making sure we all have the right answers!
