VHS hockey fights to YouTube
I kept Flyers VHS tapes for years. I really need to get up to date and digitize this stuff. I need advice - assume the only thing I have are the VHS tapes. What is the best way to go about this? The laptop I have is really old and can't handle video so I am basically starting for scratch.
I would like to be able to: 1 - digitize my VHS fights on a hard drive 2 - upload the VHS fights to YouTube in best quality possible 3 - I want to be able to also upload new hd fights to you tube from current 2013 games in 1080p on YouTube. I don't really need a new laptop or computer other than this reason. But what do I Ned to get started. A new laptop with what components? What program should I get for video capture. Thanks for any advice.

If your VCR has component cables (i.e., Yellow, Red, and White), rather than Co-ax, you can hook it up to some video cards, depending on your PC. From there, using a video editing program like Windows Movie Maker would probably get you set. That's the cheapest answer.

You don't have a shot in h3ll getting any material off those tapes if your laptop is old. It would be tedious and extremely time consuming. You'd also have more problems than success. It's not as simple as transferring from tape to harddrive. You still have to splice, re-encode and upload. Good luck with that.
