TV + Soundbar issue...any suggestions?

Okay...so this little problem has been driving me nuts.

Anyway, I just bought a 55" Vizio LED-LCD smartTV to replace my Sanyo 42". I already had the Vizio VSB200 soundbar for over a year. It was a simpl setup. I plugged the old analog red/white audiocables from the Sanyo audio output into the soundbar audio input. Simple as that, turned the TV speakers off and the cable volume and the blu-ray player volume came out of the soundbar. Nothing else needed.

Now a week and a half ago I buy the new TV. I hook up the sounbar to the TV (correct input/outputs) and nothing...no TV volume. I have the correct input selected on the TV, and have switched around from in the audio section from 'Digital Audio Out from PCM to Dolby Digital to Off' and then in 'Analaog Audio Out from Fixed to Variable'...all with no luck.

So I plugged the soundbar into the cable box and obviously the sounbar works fine. It's fine, but a pain when everytime I turn the TV off I have to the cable box and/or the soundbar off. Again, no biggy, just annoying. It's fine since I don't watch movies all of the time nor do I play video games, I bought it more for sports.

However, if anyone has any tips as to what my issue is it'd be appreciated. It was much easier on the Sanyo to just have the soundbar plugged into the TV and that was it.

***Let me just add in that in researching this topic for the past several days I never realized there was so many different types of audio things for TV's. I have read that my soundbar is very basic, and that it may be an analog/digital issue. I just don't think my soundbar is that old, as I bought it in April of 2011......I am thinking I may need to run an optical cable to the TV? My new TV has the analag (red/white) audio output and the soundbar has the same, so I just don't understand why i will not work.

Problem solved...I ended up going to Target and getting a digitial audio cable (optical cable) and it solved all of the issues. Cost me $18.00 but not too bad. Anyone know why both the TV and soundbar would have analog outputs/inputs if the new TV will only accept digital?

I don't know what the cables looks like on your model, but is it possible that the analog plugs were "input" jacks on your TV? I.e., they were so your TV could play a VCR, rather than exporting your sound out to something else? That would be my guess. I made that mistake one...
