My Laptop speakers started making crackling noises

I listen to my local police scanner through my ear buds nightly and about a week ago they started crackling. I thought they were just blown and got another pair but it didn't help.

I then noticed it was happening through my internal speakers as well. It's happening on all audio that I use including YT. I have a DELL Latitude D8 30 that I got used off of CL and have no knowledge/manual of/for it. I don't even know if it is running on stock parts or has been reconfigured.

Any ideas of how I can rid this of these annoying crackling/popping sound issues?

Thanks!

Except I've been using Windows my entire life and have never had a problem with it.

Haha not really, but if you've had problems with Windows I understand why you don't use it. It's always served me well. One thing is for certain: PC > Mac.

Googling the problem suggests you should work on your drivers for your sound card, and mobo. Know how to update them?

Since Knuckler likes Linux, he will gladly learn Assembler and make you all of these drivers from scratch, should you choose to get Ubuntu.

Did you just start running Linux? If so, then yes. You will soon encounter the fact that you need to either a) program a lot of **** yourself to get your computer to work; b) get a commercial operating system; or c) lower your computing expectations, hahaha.

But back to Flyers' question, I think it's almost definitely a driver issue.

Actually been using it for a year. It saved me from windows because Windows told me my driver was f-ed, and linux fixed it, and my computers kicking ass now. I don't play games, and just use the computer for internet pretty much.

I have not noticed any difference except no ****ty spyware, not crashing every damn day. overall it's been a much better experience than windows.

plus the libreoffice stuff has been compatible with every office type of thing as well
