I prefer some of the gangster flicks from that period, such as Angels With Dirty Faces and The Roaring Twenties.

Its been a soggy, rainy long weekend, so there's been a few movies the last couple days.

Thought The Mechanic was good - more gunplay from Jason Statham than martial arts, but had some violent moments and a decent final set. Not great, but good for a rainy day.

Buried was good - I've seen it slammed here before, but I liked it. Entire movie was filmed inside a coffin, but still kept me on the edge of my seat. Ryan Reynolds was pretty good.

Something About Mary - a classic. The hair gel scene still gets me busting a gut. Too bad the Farrelly's have never really close to matching this one or Dumb and Dumber...

Rachel Getting Married

Neat dark comedy.

GOOD: The characters are believable and the acting was good from AH, though she didn't deserve an Oscar nom in this. Never seen a film that had the whole soundtrack play live while they are filming, neat idea and they executed good. Even as a cussing junkie whore, Anne Hathaway gives me a boner, good job Anne. For some reason this scene cracked me up (not really a big spoiler) The mom slaps annes character, then outta nowhere she punches her mom out with a clean shot and dips the **** ottua there, and trys to randomly kill her self in a idiotic way. I laughed so hard for the fact that it takes away the always stereotypical slap and forgiveness. BTW, the dude from TV on the Radio is in it if anyone likes em.

BAD:
There is about 20 mins of pointless scenes and it has the whole stupid shaky cam, but thankfully he tries to keep it straight. Some of the no name actors suck.

But I liked it overall

Taxidermia. Great horror/dark comedy even though the subtitles are annoying. Very ****ed up movie, particularly the ending.
