This thread is getting a four year bump because I finally saw Requiem for a Dream on Sunday night. It's one of those movies I've always heard about but have never gotten around to watching. The ending wasn't quite what I was expecting (I really thought everyone was going to die) but I think it made the movie a lot more believable and allowed a lot more room for introspective thought.
It was a great movie, but not in the way that I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone... From a cinematic and storytelling perspective it was about as good as it gets, but I'm not sure I'm going to be watching it again for a long time... I think a lot of people can benefit from seeing this movie if they never have, but be prepared to have it stick with you for a while in a gross, train wreck kind of way. Very impactful film.

That scene up in the club with Jim Morrison and Andy Warhol was pure magic. Totally reminded me of my rave days and tripping out on crystal or E. I was completely sober watching the movie but felt the same high I used to when I watched that scene. |
