Disney to acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion

Quote:
LOS ANGELES — The Walt Disney Company, in a move that gives it a commanding position in the realm of fantasy movies, said Tuesday it had agreed to acquire Lucasfilm Ltd. from its founder, George Lucas, for $4.05 billion in stock and cash.

The sale provides a corporate home for a private company that grew from Mr. Lucas’s hugely successful “Star Wars” series, and became an enduring force in creating effects-driven science fiction entertainment for large and small screens. Mr. Lucas, who is 68 years old, had already announced he would step down from day-to-day operation of the company.

the only upside to this is that Disney love making money so hopefully they do what all fans want...release the original films in the original format...sure digitally re-master it to make it look nicer but get rid of all the added scenes...and HAN SHOOTS FIRST!

Well Disney did alright by Marvel... The next trilogy cant be worse then the last one, no one likes a series where the main protagonist is a whiny brat.

Disney also announced the next Star Wars is set for 2015.

Not wasting any time I see.

I'm sure a lot of fans are rolling their eyes about this. The Star Wars movies are classic, no need to add on.

Can't be worse than I or II though (particularly acting-wise). Not to mention, Lucas is still a creative consultant and V and VI were directed by other people. Kind of makes sense for VII to be then.

They already added on 3 crap movies, and features in the first 3 that you don't need.

As long as the new trilogy has nothing to do with Hayden C, Natalie Portman, or mitachloreans it could have potential. Then again, I really don't give a hoot about Star Wars anymore, so meh.

For fans of the series I hope they're excited.

I heard on some talk show last night that Lucas provided the outline for the storyline of the next 3 to Disney and is supposed to take place some years after the first three with Luke, Han, etc...

Awesome... 2 of the most corrupt and world ruining (not to mention Star Wars Legacy ruining) companies merging... Where is that dead god of ours to save our planet from Disney ruling the planet... and another horrible "new" Star Wars movie... Although, Mickey Mouse would have done better than that Horrible actor Haden Christensen...

Your 'world' must really suck if these are 2 of the most 'world ruining' companies in the world.

PS There is life outside of Star Wars.

And your "world" must be a dark place if you can't see Disney spreading their cancer thoughout the planet... Pick up a paper once in awhile, kid... and don't just look at the "purdy pictures".

Oh, and I am not a Star Wars freak at all... Just kind of fuked with my childhood making these crappy movies with crappy actors paid ridiculous amount of money to play makebelief...
