Daytona Speedweeks

What do you guys think so far? That ARCA race today was wild, as the leaders ran out of gas. Then you top it off with a wild shootout in the Bud Shootout. I may not be a Kyle Busch fan but man what a move.

Tomorrow is qualifying for the 500 and the front row will be set. Hoping Dale Jr. gets the pole and makes the rest of the week a bit easier on me....and him.

I think the new shorter spoiler is going to add a lot of multi-car wrecks. Should be an interesting week, I wonder how long before NASCAR changes the spoiler.

I think that was less of an issue then most of these drivers pushing on the left corner panel. You just can't do that, hell you can barely even get close to it before you take the air off of it.

Like Harvick was saying a lot of these guys have never been in pack racing so they need to learn there are 2 pedals in the car.

Also very happy that the qualifying speeds are in the 200 mph bracket now. It's been long overdue.

Yeah, I agree with you on pushing in the corners and the tri-oval. That is just bound to cause some wrecks, but it will be entertaining to see the drivers shift back to pack racing. The cars are flying and I'll be packing the RV with beer and heading up to Daytona on Wednesday! I've pretty much checked out for the week and am just ready to watch some racing! The Duels should be awesome.

Next year I will be there! I graduate in December of 2012, and have about a month off so I will head on down for the Rolex 24 at Daytona and stay until after the 500. I want the full taste of Daytona. I envy how close you are to the track...

So our front row is Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle. Qualifying for the race on speed was Trevor Bayne, David Stremme, and Tony Raines.

Should be awesome seeing Waltrip trying to make the show, and man did the Ford's flex their muscle again. Other then Dale Jr. no one was even close to knocking them off.

Looking forward to the Duels on Thursday. I will be DVRing them as I will be touring the Consol Energy Center.

What a job by Kyle Busch saturday night! Two amazing saves & then he pushes Tony to the front after the last restart only to punk him at the finish line! Eat your heart out, boys! Kyle embraces the hate!

That sounds awesome! I've always wanted to go up to the Rolex 24 weekend, but I always end up having to work that weekend. When you go up for a month, will you be staying in an RV or something? Staying for the whole month sounds like a lot of fun though!

I'm not sure if we will bust out the trailer or not. We might just stay with my family down there or head over to my friends timeshare. I just want to camp out and spend a month down there and enjoy some good racing.

Oh and getting to see Daytona would be an item off the bucket list!

Watched the race again from Saturday, and just watching his hands in that first spin was down right gross. The second one was proably the best though, I have no idea how he got it straight and kept it out of the melee beside him.

Daytona isn't that great. You truthfully can't see much at all. I suggest you check out East Bay, Volusia, Ocala, New Smyrna, or even some of the Georgia tracks like Screven.

Julian, Daytona to me is a meca. It's like everyone coming to Pittsburgh and wanting to see Primantis or go to a Steelers game. You get there and it isn't that great and your expectations are really high, but I could care less. To say I've been there is an item off the bucket list.

Same deal with Talladega as well, I plan on going eventually and it will be for 3 reasons 1) To see family 2) To enjoy some Tide football and 3) To be part of the best infield party in the world.

Trust me the tracks you listed will be stops along the way as I plan on spending a month or so down there.

Question - Do you go to racing around Pittsburgh at all?

Yuppers. Jeanette and Lernerville are two places I've been to.
