I really hope someone takes over. He disrespected many great fighters who decided to not fight in the UFC.

MMA will never be a major sport if he is still a president. Imagine a press conference where major media will be involved. He would try to scare them too? How many major newspapers covers his sport? The Fox ratings are not that great and it wont be better imo (i am not from the USA but i know the ESPN and other major networks doesnt cover them).

I am not a big Jon Jones fan myself, but he can turn fights down. If he beats Chael, what he earns? Remember the thing White said about Fedor fighting Hendo?
The cool part about the UFC is the fact that cool fights happen. You don't have to have a perfect record to be considered a start.

He has his drawbacks but has also helped prevent MMA into becoming like boxing.

That is one of the important parts. I enjoy boxing, but god is it hard to watch. And I wasn't old enough to watch the great boxing.

White doesn't appeal to everyone, but he has done some great things for the sport.

Just remember when Overeem was a Strikeforce HW champ + K1 champ. Few months before acquired them he stated he is not even a Top 10. Then he beat the ''great'' Brock Lesnar and he is suddenly a Top contender. It is right in your opinion? What if Overeem stayed at Strikeforce? Brock Lesnar would be still the best HW of the world with Cain and Dos Santos.

I am not sure so maybe i am mistaken but when Wanderlei Silva was a top dog in Pride he also stated that Wanderlei is on steroids etc (that was in the time when Chuck Liddell was the biggest star and when he called out Fedor for being overrated). When he became a UFC fighter he suddenly become an MMA legend, even when his record in the UFC is like 4-9.

Also, what Chael did to become a no.1 contender? Talking smack about others?

I bet if Gustaffson (who is a very good fighter) called for a fight Dana won't accept the fight, stating he is too young. Chael brings money and honestly, he is like Rampage who isn't as good as his hype is.

Well this is crappy news for MMA fans. First event cancelled is a big deal but it's no disastrous either. I lost some respect for Jones turning down a fight to save the event. It does suck for the under card fighters who need these fights to make a living for families. The one plus out of all this was some of the comments on twitter.

The cool part about the UFC is when you become a PPV star then you are matched up with an opponent with an equal amount of star power.

Jon Fitch probably earned a shot rather than Dan Hardy. Why Hardy got the title shot earlier (i know that Fitch had his shot earlier, but he was a guaranteed contender if he beat for example Thiago Alves and still didn't have his shot)? Imagine when Overeem failed his drug test if DW and co. decided to give the shot to Hunt? Mark Hunt would be much more dangerous for Dos Santos than Mir. Why Hunt didn't get his shot? Because it would be much harder to explain to the fans that the actual champ lost to a fighter who lost a fight against a guy who won only one fight in the UFC and the hype was pretty much bogus for Dos Santos(in case if Hunt would won against Dos Santos of course).

dude all of that **** talking was part of his job. why would he rip wanderlei when he came to the ufc? dana white isnt stupid and thats why the ufc has blown up as much as it has. chael was on sportscenter tonight b/c of this whole thing.

i agree, i dont think chael is the #1 contender, but what else can you do? i think he was the most logical choice b/c he wouldnt need to cut a whole lot of weight and is constantly training. most of the other 205ers cut a ton of weight, and would spend the next 8 days doing nothing but cutting weight to make the fight. did you see wideman fight against maia? he looked terrible b/c he took the fight on like a weeks notice and did nothing but cut weight prior to the fight. do you really wanna put a 205er who's been cutting weight for a week in the cage w/ bones jones? sonnen was the most logical opponent on 8 days notice. and ironically enough, wideman offered to step up to fight jones too. who else is there really? belfort? wanderlie?

thing is people still cant blame jones for this, they could have easily found a replacement fight for this event so the undercards could have at least still fought. But jones turning down Chael was the right move, he would destroy chael and no one would wanna see that sh1t fest of a fight. He is fighting machida at ufc 152 who is more deserving and a hell of a lot tougher

I also ask the simple question: what if Jon Jones loses? All the talk about being not confident about the fighter is bull**** imo. Anybody could win in any given night against anybody. I bet if DW would be on Jones' shoes he wouldn't accept the fight, especially when the person is as greedy as White.
Also, Dana White would love to have a champion like Chael (he even hyped him up imo at that press conference).

I don't have a problem with the choice but i doubt in case if it is other than Chael the fight would happen. How can you sell the Weidman-Jones fight? Its one thing Weidman wanted the fight, the other thing is he isn't a 205 pounder. Atleast Chael had experience in that weightclass.

So pretty much Dana White throw Jon Jones and his coaching team under the bus.

i understand the idea of putting on another main event for the sake of the rest of the main card and undercard fights, but the ufc is a business and im not sure it would be worth it to them as a business. jones v. hendo dwarfed the other fights on the card, no one was gonna order this to see ellenberger and herion fight. for all intents and purposes, jones v hendo was this event. who could possibly replace jones v hendo?

And whats the sudden switch of his opinion when he came to the UFC? Atleast he could say that we will see if he is the best of the world or not.

Maybe i want a promoter to be honest, but maybe i am naive. Dana White states all of his interviews about honesty but in reality he is just a liar and a hypocrite.

no they couldnt find a replacement fight. take into account weight cutting, travel etc. it just wouldnt work. it's too close.

no one would wanna see chael fight jones? they're THE two most popular fighters in the world. a lot of people would watch that fight, whether it was to watch jones beat the **** out of chael, or to watch chael as the underdog.

this fight would have solg great for being 8 days notice. add into it that chael is very good friends with henderson, and it makes an even better story.

i just watched machida lose to jones, and with all the rematches, id like to see something different.

I heard Chael is walking around at 220 or 230lbs right now, so he would still of had to cut a lot to make weight at 205 in 8 days.

honestly, i dont think there's anyway jones would have lost to sonnen. i know its combat and anything can happen, but sonnen doesnt have TNT in his fists like hendo does. and i understand why jones turned the fight down, i'm just saying i can also see why dana white is pissed off.

The UFC probably made a good job saving this card, but thats not we are arguing about. I am pissed about the whole press conference, posted here.
