Reporter going into the third period you think of having a lineup of Fedoruk, Simon, and Boogaard?
Jacques Lemaire Who would play center........and how big would the puck be?

Good to see Cote win, I want him to find that 'predator' instinct he seemed to have lost and eventually make it back to the UFC...maybe a Leben vs Cote rematch

recap..

from 1 of the MMA sites...

SEBASTIEN GAUTHIER DEF. JOHN MIRASTY BY TKO AT 4:10 OF ROUND ONE

Gaultier and the popular hockey enforcer, Mirasty, engaged in what can only be described as a slug fest. Gaultier showed that he was clearly the superior martial artist and had the better conditioning. He won by TKO at 4:10 of round one and proceeded to call out Steve Bosse in his post fight speech, which received a chorus of boos from the crowd.

Quebec hockey enforcer pummels heavyweight in mixed martial arts debut

Quebec hockey enforcer pummels heavyweight in mixed martial arts debut
Fri Jun 1, 2007

By Andy Blatchford

MONTREAL (CP) - Steve (The Boss) Bosse found another arena where he can pound the competition into submission.

This time he didn't even have to lace up his skates.

In his mixed martial arts debut, the six-foot, 230-pound hockey enforcer disposed of heavyweight David Fraser like one of his on-ice victims Friday night in Montreal.

Bosse, a winger with the St-Jean Summum Chiefs of the North American Hockey League - not to be confused by the U.S. junior league of the same name - electrified the Bell Centre crowd during TKO 29: Repercussion.

The St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., native, one of the most feared players in the Quebec hockey league, finished off Fraser with a combination of punches at 2:02 of the first round.

From his entrance to his decisive victory, Bosse stirred a deafening roar from the more than 7,700 people in attendance. The crowd jumped to its feet when the referee ended the fight, giving him a TKO victory.

Fans of the minor league hockey circuit, which has a reputation for drawing blood, routinely pack arenas to watch Bosse hit the ice and throw haymakers.

He didn't disappoint those who thought he would bring the same fire to the caged ring. Bosse tried to swing away at the 0-3 Fraser from the opening bell, but the combatants locked up for most of the battle, which never made it to the floor.

Then, the 25-year-old broke free and connected.

After the win, the Mohawked pugilist paid homage to his St-Jean teammates by tapping the Chiefs logo, printed on his shorts.

Fight night in Montreal also staged another first for a hockey goon - one Bosse is well-acquainted with. Bosse's on-ice bareknuckle rival Jon (Nasty) Mirasty, an enforcer with the Mission de Sorel-Tracy, squared off against Sebastien (Iron Leg) Gauthier. However, Mirasty didn't fare as well in his MMA fighting debut.

The five-foot-eight, 215-pounder from Meadow Lake, Sask., lost by TKO 4:10 into the first round.

Mirasty, who went toe-to-toe with Bosse on several occasions this season, absorbed a flurry of punches to his head early in the bout while Gauthier pinned him to the mat.

In a surge of strength, Mirasty pushed Gauthier to the side and scrambled to his feet. But his adversary from Chicoutimi, Que., connected with a kick to the back of his head and started swinging. The stocky Mirasty, 24, stumbled and the referee stopped the heavyweight bout.

He looked very raw, he would get killed against a good fighter...he was only using one arm when he had ample opportunities to throw a left hook

I thought Bosse looked really good in his first MMA fight, especially how he kept his left hand on Fraser's right leg in the beginning of the round to keep him from throwing knees. I was impressed.

He may have a future in MMA.
