tragic we will never see that fight... but the legend of fedor isnt as great as it sounds... he fought more no bodies and freak fighters then legit competition... everyone fedor beat a prime couture would beat In my opinion... style wise it is one of the most interesting fights ever... but fedor was never much of a grinder like couture was and i think it would have been a great fight in pride with fedor winning but a ****ty fight in the ufc with couture winning

I gotta disagree with you here. It would have been an awesome fight 5 years ago, andas NYI said would have been one of the more interesting matchups ever. I am not saying Couture would win, though I think he could do so, but his dirty boxing and the way Couture likes to stay in tight makes a tough matchup for Fedor.

IMPO Couture and Fedor are both overrated. A lot of Coutures big wins were against very overrated fighters. He couldn't deal with the punching power of Lidell, I just don't see how he could have dealt with the quickness/explosiveness of Fedor.

I'm sure there will be a lot of opposition to that point of view. As overrated as the Fedor was, I believe that Couture was as well.

I hear ya, but I just don't see it.

It's funny cause after he got KO'd by Henderson, he said he would keep fighting until god told him to retire. Now he is saying that he is retiring because of his family. Hypocrite, GOD will smite you! But in all seriousness, he had a great career and is no doubt one of the best, although I think if he would have joined the UFC his record would not be nearly as good.

A prime Fedor beats all three with relative ease. Fedor beat guys who were better than all 3 of these guys and none have the style to give Fedor problems. You actually named three of the most overrated HW's of all-time. Igor beat pretty much no one of note in his career, Bas fought most of his fights in an organization that wasn't real MMA and wasn't good on the ground until late in his career and Randy lost as many big fights as he won.

igor was a middlweight fighting as a heavyweight and destroyed people 3 times his size he had crazy power who went on a 36 fight winning streak... i think he would destroy fedor standing up and be able to stuff take fedors takedown pretty easy... he has that asshole body type thats hard for people to take down.... and in all fairness in igors prime there wasnt big name fighters like there was today... he fought alot of no bodies because thats all there was

bas is underrated i would say... he fought no freak show fights and could stand with anyone and had lethal leg locks... hand speed knees and kicks he had amazing stand up and no one would want to go to the ground with him because it could ruin your career... Watch his fight vs warpath he is old as **** and his kicks and punches are sooo hard its unreal... and when he fought kohsaka he even played with him and asked his corner to tell him when there is a minute left in the fight so he could knock him out which he did... the guy is a beast once again a very undersized heavyweight but speed is a big factor as we have seen in the heavyweight division

couture is over rated... stylistically he gives fedor an amazing fight... most interesting fight anyone could think of if you ask me.... there like a puzzle where fedor is missing something randy excels at it and vice versa... but i think... couture is a great heavyweight for the simple fact he is a warrior...

now lets look at fedor before the werdum loss

lets look at some of fedors wins... brett rogers a guy who had knockout power thats it fedor beats him.... hong man choi a freak show fighter, zuluzhino another freak show fighter, matt linland a middlweight, naoya ogawa who had just 6 fights before fighting fedor, Yuji Nagata a pro wrestler whose record was 0-1, so minus the freakshow and cans his record was 25-1 (i dont count the fights before pride because the talent was to be expected) now look at all of his average fights against average fighters... fedor is overrated and got exposed by werdum, bigfoot and hendo, fedor is one of the greats but is just as overrated as any heavyweight legend so far

i'm going to really miss him. he was a great fighter who made his legend status before the internet started to kill MMA. what i mean by that is, he fought in a time (crazy, only years ago) before people had the ability to rip fighters apart at will over facebook, twitter and message boards. message boards were around, but you have to be one hardcore ****in MMA fan to watch Japenese MMA at 4 in the morning.

those days are dead. fedor had an aura about him. mostly because people never actually watched him fight. he was always the guy you heard about from someone else. when people spoke of him it was a "holy ****, you have to see this crazy russian fighter." everyone is so under a microscope now. everything is dissected, and people just love to watch others fail behind the mask of anonymity on the internet.

to me, the guy will go down as one of the fighters i'll show my kids when i talk about the sport. he was pure class, a true professional and one of the most talented fighters ive ever seen and will ever see in my life. he can't be replicated and he has earned his spot in MMA immortality.

Fedor in my eyes was seriously overrated, he had an "inhuman" run there for a time like when he came back from what looked like a possible neck fracture to take out Randleman, etc, but I think people were blinded by the awe of a few of his fights when he wasnt always fighting the toughest guys and ducked alot of guys in his last few years.

I too think Rutten would have got him, Bas is the man, he took guys out with bitch slaps.
