Mississippi Surge owner
Tim Kerr has reached a two year lease agreement with the Mississippi Coast Coliseum that keeps the Surge playing through the end of the 2013-14 season.
Kerr had announced earlier this summer the team was close to terms on the deal and recently confirmed the lease has been signed. Financial terms of the lease were not disclosed.
“We have a great relationship with the Coast Coliseum, and appreciate everyone there working with us to help keep hockey on the coast,” Kerr said. “This is a good thing for the stability of the Surge and our league (Southern Professional Hockey League) to have this lease in place.”
Kerr has also announced that any profit the team would make in the upcoming 2012-13 season will be donated to a local charity.
“We're delighted to have the Surge playing here and have the lease agreement for two years.,” Bill Holmes, Executive Director of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum said. “This is great news for the hockey fans all of the ice programs here.”
