SPHL Disciplinary Committee Rules On Suspensions
CHARLOTTE, NC – The SPHL, in conjunction with the league’s Disciplinary Committee, today announced the results of two separate appeals of recent disciplinary action assessed by the League Office.
Augusta’s Aaron McGill The SPHL Disciplinary Committee upheld the suspension of Aaron McGill for the remainder of the 2010-2011 regular season and playoffs. Mississippi’s Matt Zultek The SPHL Disciplinary Committee increased the suspension of Matt Zultek from seven to 10 games. “While we feel the League Office made a fair and reasonable decision in regard to the original suspension, the Disciplinary Committee felt that the severity of the cross-check and the deliberate targeting of the player’s head warranted additional games,” stated Tim Kerr, Chairman of the Board. “As owners, these incidents directly affect each of us and the Committee wanted to send a stronger message to the players that this conduct will not be tolerated.”

Zultek is always just skating around out there like nothing is going on. Then someone does something and he goes nuts. I'm suprised he doesn't drop the gloves more often.

The league got this one right. A player can't put all his weight behind a cross-check to a guys head laying on the ice and shove his face into the ice with such force that you break your stick. That's way too dangerous! Even if it was that douche-bag McCreary. Anybody who's temper will allow him to do something like that needs to sit for awhile... a long while. |

The problem with Zultek is he's a big *****. Saw this guy play in junior and he had all the tools to play in the NHL, but he doesn't have the consistent mean streak. If he had used his size and strength properly he could have made it. A 1st round pick in 1997 but LA couldn't or didn't want to sign him then a 2nd round pick by Boston in 1999 when I believe he scored the winning goal in OT in the Canadian junior championship game. He just plain out plays soft. That's why he hasn't stuck in higher levels
