SPHL Approves Sale of Mississippi Surge
CHARLOTTE, NC – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced that the SPHL Board of Governors has approved a Transfer of Ownership for the Mississippi Surge from Coast Hockey, LLC. to Surge Ice, LLC, a group headed by Tim Kerr, who also owns the Pensacola Ice Flyers.
“Biloxi is a great market with a long-standing history on the ice and my decision to purchase the Mississippi Surge was done so hockey will continue for years to come,” stated Kerr. “Not only is it important to the fans and communities along the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the Surge to succeed, but it also benefits the other teams along the I-10 corridor like Pensacola and Louisiana and I look forward to the challenge.” “Tim’s involvement with the Surge will help provide stability and leadership throughout the organization,” said SPHL President Jim Combs. “The Mississippi Gulf Coast market is very important to the future of the SPHL and I’m confident the new ownership group will keep the Surge moving in the right direction, both on and off the ice.” |

Its very common for this.
The former owner of the Muskegon Fury also owned the Bloomington Prairie Thunder. The Frankes took over the Flint Generals too a few years back. Its ok to me as a fan cuz that means 1 owner will work harder to manage 2 teams as opposed to 1 team owner.
