Rob Sich Suspended Indefinitely
Quote:
The Fayetteville FireAntz's season will come to an end this weekend.
Rob Sich's is already over, and it's unlikely he will be on the ice when the 2012-13 Southern Professional Hockey League season begins.
On Monday, SPHL president Jim Combs issued an indefinite suspension to Sich, the franchise's career scoring leader and a two-time SPHL Most Valuable Player.
Late in the first period of Saturday's game at the Crown Coliseum, Sich and Wilson began arguing during a stoppage of play. Sich punched Wilson in front of the Ice Flyers bench, and Pensacola's Jeff Saphieha entered the fray. All three players tumbled to the ice, were separated by game officials and assessed penalties for roughing.
Once in their respective penalty boxes, Wilson and Sich continued their fracas. According to Combs, Sich "decided it would be a good idea" to throw an ice bag at Wilson." Wilson responded, Combs said, by throwing the ice bag back toward Sich, then his helmet.
When Sich made a move toward Wilson, the off-ice official assigned to Fayetteville's penalty box tried to restrain him, and they wrestled until order could be restored.
