RiverHawks Acquire Dennis Sicard From Huntsville

Augusta, GA---The Augusta RiverHawks, a proud member of the Southern Professional Hockey League, announced Friday that they have acquired the rights to forward Dennis Sicard from the Huntsville Havoc. In exchange for Sicard's rights, the RiverHawks have sent the rights to defenseman Ed Snetsinger to Huntsville.

“Dennis is a veteran, multi-dimensional power forward that can play on any line; this will give us great flexibility in our lineup. We anticipate Dennis bringing great energy, scoring depth, and he certainly, instantly, makes our team tougher to play against,” said RiverHawks President Mark Richards.

The Cobourg, Ontario native had his best season in the SPHL in 2009-10, when topped the 20-goal mark and added 14 assists for 34 points in 40 games. Sicard is coming off of a strong 2011-12 campaign in which he scored 14 goals and added 9 assists while racking up 209 penalty minutes in just 34 games.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward is one of the most renowned “tough-guys” in the SPHL's history, but is a regular and consistent contributor at the offensive end of the ice, as well. In addition to compiling 965 penalty minutes in his 191 SPHL games played, he has also scored 55 goals and 44 assists for a total of 99 points. He has also been a reliable figure in the playoffs, scoring seven goals in his 12 post-season games.

Snetsinger has played two seasons with the Augusta RiverHawks and served as the Team's Alternate Captain in 2011-12. In 72 games with the Club, the University of Toronto product scored 15 goals and added 48 assists for 63 points while compiling 119 penalty minutes.

“We appreciate Eddie's dedication and great service to our team for two seasons and certainly wish him the best. A true professional, and dedicated to his craft, Eddie gave us two great seasons in Augusta,” said Richards.

augusta has been in the dungeon the past couple of seasons for attendance. bringing in sicard is definitely a step in the right direction to fill some of those empty seats. i know plenty of seats would get filled in fayetteville if we had sicard.

Pretty smart pickup. Sicard puts asses in seats, and by all regards, is a pretty good guy in the community and with fan interaction.
