Just left the riverkings ice pilots game. No fights or scrums. Fukala was not dressed due to a hand injury.

What is up with that attendance? There couldn't have been 1,500 people in there and that might be being generous.

I have no idea why attendance sucks so bad at the riverkings games. It's not a bad arena by any means. I was first row upper deck a on the red line. Upper deck seats were only $4 last night. I have caught two games there this season since Memphis is on the way between Michigan and Louisiana. Maybe it's bad marketing because its a large enough market to draw much better than that. Another thing the fans I talked to mentioned was frustration about the lack of physical play and fights.

Fukala was not dressed, he was seated below me. I really haven't seen enough of their games though to judge anything. First one had 3 fights, 2 of which were barchuk falling down almost immediately. I have yet to see stoddard, sheldrake, or fukala drop them in person. I think the guys bitching about toughness were just hoping for some good old school minor league mayhem. I will say though, they need to do a better job establishing a net front presence on both ends of the ice. Defensively they need to clear the crease better, and offensively be a bigger pain in the ass offensively and screen the goalie better. All in all though, I have enjoyed both games I have been to, and left the arena both times dissapointed in the lack of fans in the arena.

Kings fans may be going through the "We miss the CHL" thing. Some people have trouble with the talent in the SPHL. I hope they figure it out.

I hope so too. They are the longest running sports franchise in the Memphis region. It would be sad to see another long time minor league franchise die. I have seen enough of that back home with Flint, Muskegon, and Port Huron.
