Right winger Cody Zubko will join the IceGators for the 2012-2013 season as announced today by Head Coach
Kevin Kaminski.
At 6’, 220 lbs, Zubko played his junior career with the Yorkton Terries in the SJHL (Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League) where he played for 4 years from 2006-2010. Throughout these four years Zubko would put up 72 points (35 goals, 37 assists) and a total of 303 Penalty minutes.
In 2010 Zubko started his professional career with the
Fayetteville FireAntz. In 13 games Cody scored 4 goals and 1 assist for a total of 5 points on the season. Upon finishing the season Zubko would move back to his native province of Saskatchewan to attend school. Over the next two seasons he would play in 30 games for the University of Regina scoring 3 goals and 4 assists.
Zubko is very excited to be giving an opportunity to join the IceGators this year. “I’ve heard a lot of positive things about the city and the team and I look forward to this year’s season,” said Zubko. The Preeceville, Saskatchewan native comes to the
Louisiana IceGators this season with high hopes for helping the team achieve a championship this year.
“The scouting report on him is that he will bring character, great work ethic, and loves the physical aspect of the game.’ said Coach Kaminski. “He won’t back down from anything as he finishes his checks every chance and he will provide great energy while chipping in offensively.”
