The Louisiana IceGators
have announced today the signing of two Bredenbury, Saskatchewan natives. Returning for a second season will be defenseman Clark Byczynski and beginning his pro career will be Clark’s older brother, defenseman Kirk Byczynski.
At 5’10, 177lbs, Clark began his professional career last year when he signed with the Louisiana IceGators
. He had a successful season finishing out the year with 1 goal, 14 assists, and 27 total penalty minutes. “Clarky brings steadiness, simplicity, and grit. He learned a lot in his first year with us and came on strong. He had 15 points as a rookie and was a +1 which makes for a very good rookie campaign. Now we need him to step up his game. He needs to be more offensive, tougher and a big leader.” said Head Coach Kevin Kaminski
This will not be the first time the two brothers play together. For two seasons they played in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) for the Yorkton Terriers. “I’m excited for another season down south with the Louisiana IceGators
,” said Clark. “Especially bringing down my older brother, it should spice things up a bit!”
Older brother Kirk began his junior career in 2005 with the Terriers. Over four seasons he scored 26 goals and 39 assists for 65 points. “Kirk brings great size at 6’3” and should be able to run the power play,” said Kaminski. “He has great vision and a heavy accurate shot. Kirk is a team player that plays with toughness and will stick up for his teammates,” Kaminski added. “These brothers are two huge signings for us.”
