Ice Bears Re-Sign Kyle Rank

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears are pleased to announce the return of goaltender Kyle Rank.

Rank joined the Knoxville Ice Bears last February directly out of Bentley University and was immediately forced into action. He appeared in goal for 17 of Knoxville's final 20 games, winning 9, losing 4 in regulation and 4 in overtime or shootout.

His .925 save percentage was highest in the league for goalies appearing in at least 15 games, while his goals against average of 2.54 was third in the league among goalies in the same category; fourth overall. Rank posted two shutouts in spite of his limited number of games played; good for second in the SPHL.

Rank also played every game for the Ice Bears in a playoff run that saw them reach the SPHL semi-finals, posting a .920 save percentage in the process. Rank is currently attending training camp of the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL) with former Ice Bear Bryan Hince.

Ice Bears Head Coach Mike Craigen comments on the return of the Islip, New York native: "Having Kyle Rank between the pipes for us this season means we'll have a chance to win every night. Kyle is intense, hard-working, and extremely competitive. His teammates love playing in front of him because they know he works as hard as they do to win games."

He is also in Missouri's camp. I thought he was a very good goalie.

Rank or BJ O'Brien will win the backup job in Missouri

don't be so sure that one will win the backup job...the wolves have four goalies in their camp and could be sending one of them (probably mathieu corbeil) to missouri.

I thought Mathieu Corbeil would go to Evansville of the Coast since he was drafted by Columbus? Joe Cannata would go to Kalamazoo since he was drafted by the Canucks?

jackets never signed him which made him a free agent. he then signed an ahl deal with the wolves which means he'll go to missouri if sent down probably.

yes, my assumption would be cannata would go to kzoo and get as much playing time as possible if not kept in chicago.

being drafted means nothing, its who the player signs with because some picks don't get signed (corbeil) and then can sign wherever.

I understand the draft process. I figured Corbeil signed with the Jackets since he was an emergency backup in 2011 for a dozen or so games.
