Havoc Re-Sign Sam Cannata; Sign Corey Fulton

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach Glenn Detulleo announced today that defenseman Sam Cannata and forward Corey Fulton will both be in camp with the Havoc in October.

"We are excited to have Sammy onboard for another season," Detulleo said. "He was the heart and soul of our team last year. His passion for the game and willingness to sacrifice his body garnered a lot of respect from his teammates and fans."

Cannata (6-2, 205) played his rookie season in Huntsville last year and recorded seven assists in 56 games and had two assists in five playoff games. He also had 119 penalty minutes. The Bozeman, Montana native was named assistant captain after Detulleo was promoted to head coach.

"I'm excited to return to Huntsville," Cannata said. "The city, the fans, and the level of professionalism characterized by the Havoc organization makes it a great place to play. The team made big improvements at the end of the year and I want to continue with that all the way to a championship."

Fulton (6-2, 200) spent the last two seasons with the Danbury Whalers of the FHL where he scored three goals and recorded four assists in 63 games. The most impressive stat from his first two seasons of professional hockey is his 437 career penalty minutes. The Mississauga, Ontario native played five seasons of junior hockey where he scored 12 goals, recorded 15 assists and had 661 penalty minutes in 146 games.

"Corey is a player that Huntsville fans will love to see play," Havoc assistant coach Jordan Little said. "At this point in his career he has been regarded as a very tough player and has filled that role well. I hope for Corey to come to Huntsville and while making our team hard to play against, continues to develop other parts of his game."

Ouch. Huge loss for Danbury.

Good for Fulton though. At least he'll be playing somewhere where he isn't automatically blackballed by the league and given bogus suspension after bogus suspension.

Why won't he stick? Didn't Amesbury do the same thing he's doing.

I think he's there todo the same thing. Patrol the ice for 10-15 minutes a night and sit in the box for the other 45.

Seems the early signings of some pretty tough guys has brought on a reaction from other coaches to do the same.......seems like a win win for the fans.....I'm pretty excited and we're still two months from the season starting!

We have...uhhh...Adam Stuart and Nicholas Kuqali. I think I'm going to head over to Pensacola for some games this year too.

I don't know what's the definition of a true tough guy, but Fulton has gone against everyone at the FHL and that list includes for example the guys like Steve Obelnicki, Chris Bain, Brad Pawlowski, Travis Stacey, Neil Posillico, Tyler Barr, Paul Shantz, Travis Kauffeldt, Chris Affinati and Billy Tibbetts. He has played 63 regular season games at the FHL and fought in those games 44 times.

Yeah, but IMO the team around him afforded the spot. There was enough firepower on that team to be able to keep that kind of guy around all year. Just seems to me that in this league, especially as playoffs get closer, tough guys lose spots from half way through the season through playoffs, in favor of scoring firepower.

Maybe the new coach for the Antz will catch on to.

Tony Pisano was far and away the toughest guy in the SP last year. He was protected by the Antz...No way he can play in the coast unless his skating improved a great deal..If the Antz cut Pisano every team in the league will line up to sign him.

21 year old 6-7 260 pound defense men with canned hams for fists are hard to find..Pisano is a good puck mover...He is actually decent on the puck

We didn't get to see Pisano fight a lot in Fayetteville because nobody wanted to go with him. The fights we did get to see were in my mind a win for Pisano. How you can say he lost every fight is by far one of the stupidest things you have ever said and believe me you say a lot of stupid stuff. Now I'm ready to fight.
