FireAntz Re-Sign Josh McQuade, Mike Atkinson and Kyle Frieday
Josh McQuade, Mike Atkinson and Kyle Frieday will be back with the Fayetteville FireAntz with the Southern Professional Hockey League team opens camp Oct. 15.
McQuade will be the Antz's top returning scorer. He was third on the team last season as a rookie with 22 goals, 26 assists and 48 points. "He has great offensive ability and will be counted on to provide offense," new coach Mark DeSantis said.
Atkinson spent 33 gaems with the Antz, scoring eight points in his rookie season. "I'm looking for Mike to be a good defensive forward," DeSantis said. "He should be counted on for shutting down other teams' top lines and should be a great penalty killer for us."
Frieday, a defenseman, will be entering his third professional season. He played 51 games with the Antz a season ago, scoring 13 points. "Kyle has a great shot," DeSantis said, "and we will be working with him to improve his defensive play."
mcquade is a great re-sign for the antz. he was fun to watch last year and made some great moves to find the net. atkinson and frieday did not play a big role last year so we'll see what they bring to the table this season.
