Coach Meltdown in Knoxville

Crazy stuff in Knoxville

Knoxville Coach Mike Craigen meltdown 1-12-13 -...

snip

Quote:
The Knoxville Ice Bears' scoring streak came to a halt Saturday night amid some controversy at Civic Coliseum.

Ice Bears coach Mike Craigen was ejected during the second period of a 4-1 loss to Columbus in front of 4,271 fans — many of whom came to see the annual Legends game earlier in the afternoon.

Craigen was arguing several calls with referee Joshua Greco that involved four fights during a 6-minute span of the second period.

Greco assessed Craigen a 2-minute unsportsmanlike penalty and a 10-minute game misconduct for verbal abuse and was sent to the locker room.

"I was extremely frustrated with the pattern that game was being called," Craigen said, "and it's extremely frustrating when you put 4,000 people in the building like this and one guy goes out there and changes the outcome of the game. They paid good money to see that hockey, and that referee didn't do his job tonight. That's the bottom line."

After four fights, Craigen was fuming when he couldn't get an explanation from Greco for the Ice Bears' penalties.

Craigen was ejected after screaming at Greco and finally throwing two water bottles onto the ice toward Greco.

"Probably not the greatest move by me, not very good leadership," Craigen said. "I've got to control my emotions better, but I just felt we were really getting royally (cheated)."

Bailer didn't do as bad as I thought he would but maybe he got lucky since Palowski fell. Would like to see Columbus sign a legit fighter so guys like Johnson and Yuel won't get whooped

Yea I'm seeing where he's not seeing much ice time as of late. Any player, whatever their role is wants to be on the ice.

Reminds me of Ruskowski going off when he was coaching Knoxville in the old UHauL league.

I hope. been a boring year for fights except for a few games. Good year for goalie fights and brawls though.
