Ave. salary SPHL.

Just wondering what these guys make.

solid 12-02-2006 02:57 PM

bottom end....$300ish/week....top end $6-700ish/week. they also get apartments paid for.

jarrelle10 12-03-2006 04:33 PM

avg player makes $250 a week. your top 1-2 players make b/t $600-$1000.

PuckHogs29 12-03-2006 08:35 PM

What's the salary cap in the SPHL? I know in the ECHL it's around 10k a week, the guys in the SPHL aren't making much less than the average ECHL player it seems

jarrelle10 12-04-2006 08:30 AM

I believe it is even $5500 or $5800.

It really amazes me how many guys stay playing for so long when they make chump change.

solid 12-13-2006 12:38 PM

lots of perks. you get treated like gold and you can pick up a few chicks too!

Salaries

Having been involved with all of the minor hockey leagues, these figures are inaccurate. Average salaries from what I know are as follows.
SPHL = 250 week average.
ECHL = depending on pro team affiliation but more like 400 to 500.
There is zero money in minor hockey so if that's your dream job, go to college or become a sandwich artist at Subway. You will have a much better career path.

BobNystromOwnsU 12-21-2012 12:05 PM

SPHL player > Subway worker. i don't think too many milfs are throwing themselves at Clyde the sandwich artist.

theknuckler 12-21-2012 01:18 PM

enough for booze and food, wtf more do ya need?

Stevens Lindros 12-21-2012 01:39 PM

300-ish a week is more than enough to live on WHEN you have your apartment paid for like SPHLers but it doesn't leave much for anything other than food and a single hobby (drinking, movies, picking up chicks, video games, etc.)

I cant speak for other places but I think the guys here in Pensacola have it pretty good. Most of the time the weather during the winter is nice.

They live on the beach in a condo or a house, have a nice golf course at their disposal and numerous restaraunts that give them pretty sweet deals.

Couple hundred bucks a week will take care of a car and a phone in fact some of the guys have some nice rides.

In an article dated 7/15/12, Jerome Bechard (Cottonmouths) stated:
Quote:

A typical SPHL player makes between $300 and $325 a week — teams face a salary cap of $5,600 a week, Bechard said — but apartment rent is covered by the teams, as are most meals.

Some teams may not be spending the full $5600 each week. Some thoughts however are:

1) if a team carries the max allowable players (19) the max average salary each player can make is $295.

2) If they carry only 18 players the max average salary would be $311.

With the numbers above, some player personnel may be in the $450 to $600 range which will require many players to be in the $250 range. If I am not mistaken, the league has a minimum weekly salary of $250 per player.
