There is Lawrence Taylor and then we can begin to talk about the other Linebackers!

Ray Lewis didn't blow lines of cocaine on the sidelines either.

And LT was an outside linebacker, Lewis is an inside linebacker. Different position all together.

Your lack of football basics is shining through once again.

No one gives a sh*t about LT in a thread about Ray Lewis unless we're turning this into a universal scumbag thread.

But he did have sex with a 16 years old prostitute.

Comparing Lewis and Taylor is like comparing a tight end to a receiver.

LT was the most dominating pass rusher ever, but no one has ever played the middle linebacker position like Lewis has....No one.

With all due respect, and as a big fan of the late 80's early 90's Giants, I would take prime Reggie White over prime LT in all aspects of the game, and while they are before my time there were a number of Middle LBs who, I believe, would compare to Lewis - Butkus being the first to come to mind.

That said I will agree that niether LT nor Lewis is much of a role model.

All the best.

Exactly and I also don't remember Taylor being involved in a murder! LT is the greatest defensive player ever! John Madden always brings up LT and then anyone else on another level!

All these plays and hits on Jaworski and the Eagles were just in his rookie year of 1981. Taylor was everywhere, right side, left side, inside what a football player and the first guy down covering the punts also causing fumbles!
The best linebacker ever!

Lawrence Taylor dominates Eagles in Philly -...

Nope, just cocaine and alcohol abuse, using teammates' urine to pass NFL drug tests, prostitution, multiple hit and runs, tax evasion, AND he had sex with a 16-year-old girl and paid her for it. Am I missing anything?

Great point about Reggie White.

I meant to do "like Lewis for as long as Lewis did at as high level". Mike Singletary is another like Butkis, but I think Ray Lewis maintained greatness longer.

But he's still a scumbags.

Yeah you are missing all the times that he kicked the Eagles asses! I was looking, how many Super Bowls do the Eagles have?

The great John Madden always say's that LT is the greatest linebacker ever, noone else is close to him!

No. 1 Lawrence Taylor: The first thing I think of when it comes to Taylor, is that hit on Joe Theismann by Taylor which caused a compound fracture in Theismann's right leg. That will be one of the most gruesome sights on Monday Night Football.

Lawrence Taylor won three Defensive Player Of The Year Awards, two Super Bowls (Super Bowl XXI & XXV), and NFL MVP in 1986. Taylor was named to the 1980s All-Decade Team. My biggest reason for ranking him No. 1 is the fact that Taylor had 141.5 sacks, plus nine interceptions that showed he was multi-talented at the position.

John Madden once said of Lawrence Taylor: "Taylor, defensively, has had as big of an impact as any player I've ever seen. He changed the way defense is played, the way pass-rushing is played, the way linebackers play and the way offenses block linebackers."

Ahhh the old counting championships argument when you have no other defense.

We are not talking about how good Taylor was. We are talking about what a lowlife he was off the field. You said Taylor has never been involved in a murder like Lewis probably was, and I pointed out a plethora of other felonies Taylor has on his record. Thoughts on Taylor's rap sheet?
